Estelle lost herself in Keisha’s mythology books, reading about Zeus and Poseidon, Hera, Athena and the other Greek gods of Mt. Olympus. But it was Amphitrite with whom she identified. It was the ocean goddess who captured her imagination. It was remarkable that they shared the same destiny—being shirked, forgotten, used by men who usurped their power.
Estelle saw herself as Amphitrite reborn, strong, capable, a woman beyond other mere mortals, who had relinquished her powers once, Estelle swore she would never allow that again.
