August watched his wife drag Tiffany to the car, her stiletto heels clacking on the pavement. Whore, he thought as mother and child pulled from the parking lot. His eyes followed the car as it drove from sight.
It was not fair. He had done nothing wrong. He’d never lifted a hand to hurt her, never squandered a dime except to give it to her. And the light of his life had dimmed as the woman he’d fallen in love with changed before his eyes. It was as if finding out she was pregnant was a death sentence.
