Madam Wojo, or Mrs. Lena Wojciehowicz, had come to America from Poland with her husband after World War II. They'd settled in the farming community of Chinquapin only a few years ago. Rapidly her reputation among the local folks had begun to rival others who held to old wives’ tales and superstitions. Her still-thick accent added to her fabled authenticity and her dress of soft, earthy colors, draped, printed scarves, heavy, beaded necklaces and bangles all added to her mysterious persona.
Madam Wojo set the deck of cards before Mim. "Tap them three times then shuffle the deck. Pick three cards."
