Rae leapt from the ground and ran back toward the shore. Heart pounding, breath gasping, her thoughts jumbled in a confused pillar of should I’s or shouldn’t I’s. My ass is grass if I don’t get that box. Slowing for a moment Rae considered that perhaps the young boy would just laugh it off. “Maybe if I explained,” she whispered to herself. After all what they were doing was natural as bulls and cows. I’ll stop and talk to them, explain-maybe. Rae slowed. Then came the young man’s voice, the angry threatening voice of Zach.
“Billy Stupert - I told you to keep away from me - keep away from my girl. Keep away from me - from my dog, my cat, anything of mine, you hear? I swear I’ll blow your damn head off if I see you around me again. Hey Stupert, stupid-stupid Stupert-you hear what I say?”
