“Make way, folks. Horse rescue here!” He gets a running start then jumps on, pedaling furiously after Rico and Caesar.
The crowd roars as they head down Michigan Avenue. Rico and Caesar are already two hundred yards ahead. Jerry’s balloons stream behind them in the crisp night air, making a festive cloud of bouncing neon rubber. Onlookers lined up on the sidewalks spanning both sides of the wide avenue clap, wave, and point. A few children escape from their parents’ grasp. Squealing, they try to follow the two on the worn bike, hoping to grab a balloon.
