Petra waited while the number connected and then introduced herself, “Gary, this is Petra, Otto’s daughter. I believe we met when Dad and I toured Texas. How are you, sir?”
“Petra, how nice to hear from you. How is Otto?”
“He’s doing quite well but on a well-deserved vacation with my Mom. I understand that you have really continued down your path of creating a Texas winery. By the looks of your website, you are doing quite well.”
Gary laughed as he said, “The winery is doing well, thanks to Evan and his vision of combining the majority of the year as a farmer of the finest grapes in the area, and the rest of the year refining his wines, now as a renowned vintner, winning several awards. It is simply a dream come true.”
“I am so glad to hear about your success. And your son helping you. That must really make you proud.”
“It does. And not just one son, but both. My other son is a chef and his culinary creations are matched perfectly with the fine red wines Evan creates.”
“Gary, I am at a customer site but wanted to call as I heard you were having some strange issues. As it turns out, strange issues are my specialty this month. My background is in computers with a focus on security types of problems, which is what sounds like you’re having.”
Gary responded almost relieved, “Oh, thank goodness. I had hoped that you continued down the path Otto spoke of. I would really appreciate your coming here, and we will afford you every courtesy. Honestly, Evan can give you more details on the events that have occurred than I can.”
“Let me work on my schedule and let you and Evan know when I can be there. Ask him to not even turn the machine back on at this point. I will do that while I am there. Would that be alright, Gary?”
“It is perfect. Thanks very much for calling me back.”
