Without even opening her eyes, Julie knew who was calling. She took a few seconds to reorient herself to the surroundings that did not seem immediately familiar, but as a mobile cyber assassin and world traveler one hotel room looked like any other. Dammit, she thought! Why hadn’t I turned the phone off so it wouldn’t ring through? Then she remembered that calls from Quip woke up the phone from any state, so she really couldn’t stop his call from coming in unless she yanked out the battery and removed the SIM chip, which was always more trouble than just taking his call. Besides, she mused, maybe it’s another fun assignment and if so then the vacation there in Acapulco could be interrupted. Of course, that meant that the extra heavy bed covers had to be moved away for her to step out and find the annoying device. It would only keep ringing since neither she nor her co-workers believed in voice mail.
Julie finally found the annoying, ringing device and in a half awake state whispered, “Honey Plank’s Mortuary! Have you got that special someone, who disturbed you one too many times on your infrequent vacations, that needs to be laid out? Whether it’s birds, boa constrictors, or anything in between, for your convenience we offer door to door taxidermy services!”
Quip, somewhat rebuked, asked, “Uh, hi Julie. I’m sorry, did I catch you in the middle of someone? Is this a bad time, madam, and can I have some details?” He grinned.
“Well, if you must know, I was enjoying short rhythmic up and down strokes when you called. But don’t worry. After we disconnect, I’ll go back and finish brushing my teeth. What’s up?”
Quip chortled then added, “I have to it admit, kid, your humor has gotten quite good here of late. You must be practicing. Anyway, we’ve got a situation coming up that will require an impromptu move of some people, and one of them is an old friend of yours, Su Lin.
“Otto wants to know if you could quickly move Su Lin, her assistant Daisy, and her beloved test subject Franklin before a certain three letter agency moves them into protective custody. He suggested that an air evac would make the most sense. To that end we will need the discreet services of a pilot. Do you have any idea how we could get ahold of Juan to see if he is up for a little action?”
Julie smiled wryly, now fully awake, as she suggested, “Well, hang on and let me ask him.”
Julie moved the cell phone down to her breast to help muffle her voice yet mischievously whispered Juan’s name. Knowing the phone call had already woken him, she continued to sneak her free hand under the covers to handle Juan’s manhood with the intention of arousing him.
Returning to the conversation and smiling broadly she responded, “Oh, very definitely. Juan is up for some action. Well, Quip, I gotta ride now, er… I meant I gotta run now. And the answer to your earlier question is, yes, I am in the middle of someone right now. I got him on his back…I mean, I’ll call you back. Bye, for now!”
And she ended the call abruptly to focus all her attentions on Juan, who was definitely now operating on testosterone overdrive.
Quip sat blinking his eyes in his chair while still holding the phone to his ear. Finally, he looked up at Otto and clarified with a grin, “You’ll be happy to know that Julie is very much enjoying her vacation. Yes, she does know how to get ahold of Juan, quite literally. So while we weren’t able to finish our intended conversation she left nothing unsaid before returning to her horizontal refreshment, er… slumber.”
Otto smiled for a few seconds then reflected, “Ah Quip, our little Julie is blossoming into a fully actualized woman. I hadn’t expected that the rogue Juan would have been the one she chose, but then I am no expert when it comes to matters of the heart. Let’s watch how this plays out, and I may review it with her in the near future.
“You know, I would not presume to dictate to her on a preferred male choice, but neither am I prepared to have her hurt. I guess it is just the paternal instinct in me not wanting our little girl to fall off the pony and be hurt.”
