The Enigma Ignite

With a look of wonderment, Su Lin slowly took the phone which began ringing. Alarmed, Su Lin answered cautiously as she placed the phone to her ear.

The bright cheerful voice on the other end said, “Su Lin, I am so happy to talk to you again, madam! It has really been too long since our last conversation. I trust I have not given you cause for too much alarm with an encrypted phone call and no warning. I hope you now recognize my voice and you will recall our past association, but I must admit that it is a little strange calling you by your new identity and not your more comfortable name of Master Po. So how are you, my old friend?”

Su Lin breathed easier and said with a slight smile beginning, “Otto, your ability to pop up out of nowhere is nothing less than astonishing, sir. As for how I am doing, I am doing well. I am focused on new horizons, and my past is something I am not interested in digging up. So if you are looking for information from the past, I am afraid I can’t help you.”

Otto chuckled and continued, “Su Lin, I am not looking for information on past events, but in fact I am looking for information on the future. Specifically, the future you are currently engineering. By now you should know that I have two of my trusted associates there to speak with you on your revolutionary use of nano-chips in a biological matrix.

“Our discussions of course will be confidential. But if you have popped up on our radar screen, then you should understand that it won’t be long before other interested parties arrive. I am going to advocate caution, my old friend. However, as a safety precaution, would you please accept this phone as my gift that you can use day or night to petition for assistance should the need arise? Will you humor me and accept this in case we need another exit strategy?”

Su Lin chuckled slightly and agreed, “Yes, Otto, I do accept the gift and the offer although I don’t know why or how I came under your charge. Perhaps you can tell me some day how I came to have your favor, kind sir. So now let me go and greet your two associates and give the briefing you requested. Until the next time, Otto, take care.”
