The fable Tortoise and the Hare re-imaged:
Jack Rabbit one day ridiculed Turtle: “Hey shorty, with these short legs…Your slow pace with that house on your back…You are as slow as a snail.”
Turtle laughed. "Jack Rabbit, though you are swift as the wind with your long back legs, I could beat you in a race." The Hare believed Turtle’s assertion to be simply impossible. Jack Rabbit laughed, “I challenge you the slowest of slow to a race. Turtle agreed. “A race to the finish.”
Fox, who watched, offered, “I shall choose the course and fix the goal so all is fair.” Both agreed. Other animals had suggestions for Fox, and finally, the course finished, so each had a fair and equal chance.
On the day appointed, Jack Rabbit and Turtle started together on the starting line at the same time. Turtle never for a moment stopped her slow, steady pace straight to the goal.
