Sometimes life fills her bones with hope.
Then she’s disappointed because where there is light, there is always shadow. But where there is shadow, not always is there light.
Hope requires faith, and she doesn’t believe in silly fairy tales anymore.
She’s lost in daydreams, daring to taste the life she prays for.
Never again.
No closure comes from communing with the dead.
She doesn’t know how to live.
Even time falls away from her.
She never knows what year she’s in.
Can’t you see it in her smile
the lies . . .
It’s okay.
She’s fine.
She’s used their scorn.
Their “I love you” weighs her down with guilt.
She doesn’t know what “I love you” means.
She’s damned by the light.
She’s lost in her head, imagining a life where Mother lived.
Where her sister survived.
What is she supposed to do now?
She keeps asking the stars staining the sky.
