“Her mom was supposed to love her.”
There are sentences that hurt because they describe what happened.
This one hurts because it describes what should have.
Before a child knows anything about abandonment, forgiveness, or learning to love herself, love is supposed to be the first promise.
She shouldn't have had to earn it.
She shouldn't have had to become easier to hold.
She shouldn't have had to spend years wondering what was missing inside her.
That is part of the wound moving beneath Diaries of a Borderline.
Not simply that her mother hurt her, but that the person who was supposed to teach her what love felt like became one of the reasons she would eventually have to teach it to herself.
And there is a particular grief in realizing you deserved something long before you learned how to name its absence.
“Her mom was supposed to love her.”
Sometimes the smallest sentence carries the childhood underneath it.
