it starts with hope
She dreams of meadows of periwinkle and sunflowers swaying in the warm breeze.
The doves chirp as the swallows sing peace, for the lost daughter has found her way back to herself.
There is a ball of light floating in the middle of a pond of nimbus clouds.
She walks toward the ball of light, feeling its pull as if she’d known it her whole life.
The closer she gets, nature falls quiet.
The doves watch with anticipation.
The swallows smile.
With dying hands she reaches out to touch the floating light calling her name from beyond the grave.
She falls through the clouds.
She wakes up in this casket of roaches and razor blades and stands for the first time.
She is in a hole of memories years deep.
Abuse tried to break her.
It almost did.
But for the first time,
she feels her mother was wrong.
The ground trembled.
The scarlet cracked sky dissipated to blue.
She drank in the sunlight.
She had been starving herself of the very things that would heal the parts of her she needs to survive the monsters trying to still bind her in her mother’s name.
