Our focus is not on the here and now. It may be in the future, worrying about the “what ifs” of this life, or stuck in the past, obsessing about overheard remarks or past mistakes. It is when we seek out silence that we begin to unravel the lifelong mystery of who we are.
For writers, our way home is through solitude, allowing writing itself to become the focus. When we do, we find that transformation in which the objective of life is uncovering its great secrets, and finding our connection to them. We open the sacred space within and welcome ourselves home, touched by something deeper than satisfaction, a place where we can find ourselves again and again.
