Writing in Community is a book of inspiration and encouragement for writers who want to reach deep within themselves and write to their fullest potential. There is magic in a successful writing group. This book helps writers tap into that magic, and with gentle wisdom and humor, experience unprecedented breakthroughs in creativity.
Becky's writing group has meant a lot to her. She loves the energy and synchronicity of using the generative process in the writing group to take her creativity to new heights. A longtime educator, poet and essayist, Becky draws the inspiration for her writing from the magic and wisdom of being present in the world. The strength and beauty of people continue to amaze her, and their guidance has been her best teacher. Her book, co-authored with Lucy Adkins, Writing in Community: Say Goodbye to Writer's Block and Transform Your Life, won the 2014 Silver Independent Publishers Award in Writing/Publishing. It's all about attitude, how we approach our daily lives, and live out the passions we have as writers. Setting an intention each day is an invitation to explore, to open, to touch our most authentic selves. We can turn the ordinary into the extraordinary when we focus our attention on what is in front of us and be present with all that is around us.

Writing in Community
Finding this sort of insight in our lives comes about through our outlook, the way we approach each day. We are ordinary people, but when we set the intention of turning the ordinary into the extraordinary, the daily drive to work can be a time to bask in the beauty of the clouds coming in from the west. A walk to the mailbox can be an opportunity to revel in the dandelions popping up in golden medallions all across the yard. As writers, when we slow down and allow ourselves to see the world and delight in its glory, words come to us effortlessly—leaping from the tips of our pens, or floating down graceful as butterflies.
