Sometimes we can fill in the details, or not. When my husband was ready to call in his life partner (it was right after his divorce was final and he was very clear on what he wanted this next and last time around!), he sat down and made a list of 40 things—approximately one-third physical, one-third emotional/intellectual, and one-third spiritual—that he wanted in his wife. Some were very specific: “Between 5’10” and 6’ tall.” “Blue eyes that sparkle.” “Long, long legs.” Others were broader: “At peace with her world.” “Spiritually awake.” “Smart and well-read.” The last one on his list was: “She has her own list and I meet all her criteria.” Well, this 5’11” sparkly blue-eyed gal with a 36” inseam did have her own list and did he ever meet my criteria!
Actually, when I was writing up my own list, which included “spiritual powerhouse,” “family-oriented,” “plenty of time and space in his life,” “lives in integrity,” the practitioner I was working with said, “Now you understand that you have to be all of these things first, before you can call him in, right?” Oh, right! So I did, and there he was.
