Oh, beautiful, beautiful Life on Earth. You are meant to be a celebration—one lifelong, living, breathing, moving, continuous, everlasting celebration. You are meant to be a delightful feast of the heart, mind, soul, and spirit.
At least that was the design.
But a long time ago, the primary event of the day was staying alive. We did not understand living and dying, sickness and deformity, weather patterns and natural disasters, the odd series of seemingly random unfortunate events, even life itself…so, in order to gain some semblance of understanding of the strange happenings of life, we made things up. We made up gods to explain the fickle forces of nature and the cosmos, along with the apparent irrational distribution of illness and hardship, and then we appeased the gods we made up with prayers and sacrifices, which we also made up. If sacrificing an animal seemed to appease the gods of rain, well then perhaps sacrificing an infant would appease them even more. It certainly sounds insane in the present day, but how many things are made up and done now that will seem just as insane in another five or ten thousand years?
We learned to suppress people, for reasons we made up. We learned to suppress our spirit and our natural urges, for reasons we made up. The family where the husband and wife were committed and faithful to each other was the family that survived, so straying eventually became an error punishable by banishment or worse. Yes, commitment and fidelity are wonderful—but they should be developed and followed in the heart for their own sake, not to avoid external punishment by made-up legislation from some self-elected, made-up group of legislators.
We found that when we restricted many activities and hid ourselves away in tight-knit groups, we could concentrate on that very important job at hand, that of staying alive and ensuring the survival of our children. And the tribe that banded together had a greater chance of survival, so marrying beyond the tribe became unmentionable. Even sharing love and acceptance for those outside the tribe became unforgivable. Certain foods or foods eaten in certain combinations that had occasional fatal repercussions were outlawed. We created rules and regulations—No, you cannot marry that person! Do not eat that! You cannot think that way!—that sometimes lived far longer than the human foibles, dilemmas, and experiences they were to protect. The safety and security of the entire tribe was at risk—people watched their loved ones die when these regulations were not followed—so who could blame our ancestors and ourselves in our earlier forms for putting together these kinds of made-up things into societal conventions?
Since the outside world grabbed hold of our attention so fiercely that most people did not even consider delving into the inside world, our appetite for all things external grew. We did not understand the sacredness of our very lives, and we learned to kill anything or anyone that stood in the way of what we wanted—food, land, expansion, domination. As we fed ourselves more, more, more, our appetites grew and we wanted more, more, more—just to have more, more, more.
We were frightened…and, although we were doing our best, it was clearly not the best we could do.
Oh, beloved Life on Earth. Somehow, some way, the celebration got extinguished. You are supposed to be a banquet for all of the senses, a kaleidoscope of experiences and adventures, an expansion of the heart, an opening to infinity. How did we get it so wrong? So many people were confused and then someone, also scared and threatened, inadvisably had some power to wield. Just imagine the absurdity of creating a world where part or even up to half the population was subservient to the other. Even today slavery still exists. Even today to see a woman’s face—let alone other parts of her incredibly beautiful body—is still outlawed in some sectors. Imagine so suppressing the natural spark in men to create life leading to the suppression of women…oh! Clearly the glory that is life was not under-stood. Imagine the pain someone must have been enduring to create policies proclaiming fun as a sin. Dancing, singing, laughing, intimacy—a sin, of all things! Unfortunately, we do not have to imagine the absurdity of it; we still live with the results of some mad imaginings from long ago and there are places, even now, where these are outlawed in many forms. Self-hatred comes from not understanding our true design, and cruelty is our own self-hatred transferred into action.
Life is also supposed to be easier than we seem to be making it. But really the only thing that makes it hard is our own resistances that arise for whatever reason, whether it is training or habit or karma or soul choices or pre-incarnation soul agreements or some combination of all of these. We all decide what we are going to work on in each life. In that regard there are no victims, ever. And, when there are no victims, the power is in our hands.
Plus, we are coming to know better now. Life is about joy. Life is about love. Life is about light and laughter, growth and expansion, giving and receiving, dancing and playing, singing and silliness, depth of understanding and broader scopes of vision, and education and evolution of our beings, giving birth, and, yes, even dying to an outmoded body vessel or way of being, and rebirthing ourselves…over and over and over and over again.
Yes, there are times of pain and sorrow, but they really only serve to strengthen and fortify us for the long run. We face loneliness, hardship, wars, torture, worse. I keep saying worse, but there is nothing that is really bad, other than the temporary suffering of the heart when someone we love dies or our work efforts fail or something similar, but we recover from that.
We do not really die anyway. Not one thing is ever created or destroyed, thus we were never born so we cannot die. We only transform. We’ve always been; then we come here for a while, and when our time is done we just lay this body down and pick up something else somewhere else. Here, hereafter, there, before, during, after, anywhere, everywhere—yes, it’s all one lifelong, living, breathing, moving, continuous, everlasting miracle.
What would you do if I told you that a lot of what you have been taught was wrong? At this point many of us have more to unlearn than to learn. We have millennia of fear coursing through our veins, inherited from our scared, fearful ancestors and our earlier selves who were doing their best to preserve their own lives and to make it possible for us to be here at all. They did a wonderful job in many ways. But most of them knew so very little about their true nature and the reality of life in our universe.
It is time to know that you hold more power in the palm of your hand than is in the mighty winds, or than is in the power of the large vehicles that race across the planet or hurtle through space now, or than is in entire cities, countries, continents. If you were not here, something extremely important—something vital and essential—would be missing from the divine tapestry that is the whole of creation.
But you are here, thank God/Goddess/All That Is. You always were and you always will be. And the time of deep slumber is over.
Wake up!

Yeshua ben Yosef lived among us two thousand years ago. You know the story, at least some of it. His counterpart, his partner in his life’s mission, also lived two thousand years ago, but you do not hear very much about her. The retelling of a story is often more about the reteller than the subject itself. And who did most of the retelling? There were also many things that were told that are absolutely not true, as the telling was part of an agenda of a particular age…and to give the crazy notions more power, they were attributed to something that had all power: God. You really cannot argue with the only Son of God, now, can you?
Some of the things that we do not have to unlearn are the things he taught: love thy neighbor; pray, believing it is so, and you will have whatever you want; the greatest of all qualities is love; bless those that try to hurt you; the domain of Heaven is within; along with the many, many other great teachings attributed to him, our great Teacher. Those are true. And so are the things he taught that were not written down properly: there is more than enough…of everything. Everyone’s going to Heaven…because we are already in Heaven, to the extent that we are aware and open to it. War is not part of a civilized society, nor is suppression of any kind. He emphasized that when you pray, believing, and obtain whatever it is that you want, make sure that it is serving the higher good of you and all and harms no one. It is so interesting how one strand of a particular famous teaching was deleted, over and over… although some chronicles of words attributed to him were downright wrong: There is not to be poor always—he never said that! Does that seem to be something a compassionate person would say? So-called good Christians spout that line, thinking they are quoting God, but I think it came about the way it did as an excuse to be lazy and complacent—after all, working toward the betterment and equality of all of society requires a great deal of ingenuity and hard work. And true equality for all remains frightening to some. But when we know who we truly are, nothing can truly frighten us any more.
A great many things our great Teacher told us remain idle, taken out of context, misconstrued, or even used as a justification for unspeakable acts. And a few things were kept secret, until now.
I want to show you another side of the story you have heard so many times.
Come, walk with me.
