There was a very steep hill just outside the city walls. When I first arrived and found myself with some free time, somewhat of a luxury, I would climb the hill to look at my new city—a city I loved from the first moment I arrived. My breathing would be fast and heavy, since I was not used to this kind of exertion. Over time I was able to climb the hill more easily, until I reached the point where my breathing would remain nearly steady as I approached the summit and perhaps I would take one big breath of air at the top of the hill—no more fast and heavy breathing for many minutes, as with my early climbs. But fitness is not just a physical attribute; there is spiritual fitness, too. When I first arrived at the temple palace, small events and minor issues would upset me. Over time I found myself returning to the peace of my center faster and faster. It does not matter what happens in life, only what our reaction is and how quickly we can return to the peace of the stillness within ourselves. Mastery is not routing out all bad events of life, for no one can do that; mastery is a rapid return to the still center point, despite the wild ride that can be this life of ours.
In addition to being very aware, I was also very sick as a young child. Many healers have been sick them-selves. We very often teach what we need to learn or what we have overcome, so we can teach from our own experience. I overcame my illnesses more through thought and communing with the Divine than through anything elemental, like herbs and ointments—although they can make the healing and the healer’s job more fun…at least more tactile, textured, and aromatic, if nothing else.
Far into the future from my day but now here in your day, the people of science have ways to see what the mystical teachers have always known…that the things that make up one person are the things that make up another, are the things that make up the rocks, are the things that make up the stars that burn in the nighttime sky, are the foods that we eat, are the waters of the world, are the animals of the plains, are the dust floating in the air, are the new babies being born at this moment, are the tired old bodies passing on at this moment, are the salts of our tears, are the salts of the oceans, are the sounds of the winds, are the beatings of our hearts.
Nothing ever, ever leaves or dies—it only changes shape and appearance. It lives on one side of the veil or another, in this dimension or another, on this planet or another, but it is not really much different.
Most people do not know any of this. But it is not their fault. We are all excellent students—no matter what our intelligence level—and our lessons depend on who our teachers have been, what they have been taught, and how long we have been taught the particular lessons…plus how ready we are to learn something new when a new teacher with a new lesson appears. Most tend to live under a spell. Politicians and people in power have learned this, often to the detriment of those in their sphere of influence. They can cast the spells further, too, although I do not mean in the form of black magic—I mean in creating a mass hysteria or anything else they want in order to pursue their private schemes on a public level.
I hear many of you repeating the same pessimistic mantra that you told yourself yesterday, and the day before, and the day before that, and even eighteen lifetimes ago. And you are the lightworkers! Stop it! And I am not the only one who can hear you—everyone on the planet can hear you, whether they know it or not, especially those right around you. And imagine what those who have not had their hearts and eyes and ears opened are thinking and how it is affecting everyone. But you cannot afford the extravagance of dwelling in negative thought, not even for a moment. All right, indulge yourself, if you must, for a moment here and there, just as you must let grief and devastation consume you for a short time in order for them to pass. Move it through you and out of you, as quickly as you can. But do not dwell there—it is not fair to the rest of creation. It is time to break the cycle. There is a reason that so many people use prayer beads and mantras and chants—to train their minds out of the normal routine that we humans can find ourselves in, to break their own personal spells and reverse a possible downward spiral.
