Both Bad and Good
In chapter five Madlyn and her family experance something bad that turns into something good. At the same time Elly and Gigi get involved in something bad that happened to Elly's sister, Sheena, and in helping Sheena it turns out to be an answer to prayer for Elly. When something bad happens, we need to remember that it is not the end of the story. In every "bad" thing there is something good hiding. “Yes, Sheena, of course, please come to stay and I’m sure Gabe will agree for us to take the child.” She really didn’t know what Gabe would think, but she started praying as soon as she hung up the phone.
Looking around the small house she wondered, where could we put a baby? With a start she asked herself, where can we put Sheena?
Gabe came home exhausted from his last Christmas tree run. He was surprised to see his sister in law visiting when he arrived. Sheena offered to run to the store to get some bread for dinner to give her sister time to talk to Gabe alone.
When they heard the screen door slam, Gabe asked, “She pregnant or something? Is that why she’s here?”
Shocked, Elly answered, “Yea, how did you know?”
“I’ve got seven sisters, remember? I know what a pregnant woman looks like. So whose baby is it? Floyd’s in Germany, right?”
