Jeremy is twelve years old when our story begins. Plenty old enough to notice girls. But, there is only one girl that catches his eye. She is a beautiful young girl who attends his church. The problem is that Jeremy is painfully shy. It will take some time for him to work up the courage to utter even a one syllable word to her. Shyness is a funny thing. I was a shy child and still have attacks of shyness now and then, but I don't think I have ever seen anyone more overcome with shyness than my grandson when he had his first big crush. When he looked across the lawn to the small church, he saw Brooke’s long glossy black hair as she and her family walked up to the building from the parking lot. Brooke made thoughts of anything else flee away. He raced to hold open the door for her. Brooke’s family had been gone for a few months and he was so excited they were back. His insides did flip flops when he saw Brooke. He became mute when he was close to her. And the few times she returned his gaze, those incredible blue eyes made the rest of the world disappear.
