“Jeremy Linden!” The voice of his mother trumpeted through the house. The boy froze in mid-stride. Could his mother see him? She was in the other room. How could she know? He soundlessly completed his step.
“Jeremy!”
He exhaled. How did she do that? He knew she didn’t have eyes in the back of her head. She couldn’t see through the wall. Jeremy looked at the wall that separated himself from his mother. He looked at his sister, then at the small water balloon he held in his hand. What's a twelve year boy to do? He quickly threw the balloon at his sister and ran out the back door, his angry sister in hot pursuit.
