Author Biography

Dr. Perez Ferguson is a cross-cultural educator and consultant. Her fiction brings to life the voices of California inhabitants living 200 years ago. She has twice won the Best YA Fiction Award from the San Francisco Writers Conference, 2021 and 2022.

All Selina knew was that Keri backed her up, and they were all headed to Mexico as a group. She might see Moreno, and her father would never find out about it. However, what about teamwork? Since she was getting along with the other players, Selina wanted to remain with the squad at CSULB. She could ask Moreno to wait for her. Her claim to her career as a player was as valid as his.

Meanwhile, Clemente was aware of her relationship with Moreno, and he struggled to know how to intervene. What was it that drew these young people together? Had he forgotten what it was like to be truly alive? If Selina ran off with Moreno in Mexico, it would be a calamity. It would be devastating for Lupe and the team. It would throw Selina’s father into a rage, and Selina would soon learn what a fraud Moreno truly was. Clemente wanted to tell Lupe what he knew about Moreno, but she did not need one more thing to worry about.
