On Saturday morning, the entire team ate breakfast together. Their loss to San Diego gave them a new resolve to improve their game. Selina sat next to Keri. Both wore sweats and had their gear prepared for an early morning practice session. Some girls who hadn’t previously interacted with Selina were joking around and acting like they were all a part of one big family.
The cafeteria door opened, and a well-known neon sweat suit entered. Carmen Rosa, made up for a photo op, looked so out of place on campus that half the group giggled.
“Someone has a visitor,” Molly said. “Look out, incoming, three o’clock.”
Oblivious to the impression she made, Carmen stepped up to their table and broke the close-knit feeling of the girls sitting there.
