I wouldn't have enough time in the world to explain what I've done for The Organization, so, I'll start with the very last job they gave me.
I wouldn't have enough time in the world to explain what I've done for The Organization, so, I'll start with the very last job they gave me before they let me go.
At the top of the stairs, I sat and waited for my target in darkness. It was impossible for someone to spot me unless he or she was at least two feet in front of me or if they had a flashlight. No one walks around in Havana with a flashlight. The ally way was narrow but isolated. Fifteen minutes passed and not a soul passed by. The only light over the back entrance to the restaurant flickered. About fifteen, maybe twenty feet from the entrance, a man, and a woman were kissing. Up above me, a window was open. The announcer for the soccer match screamed as did the people in the room.
The metal door to the restaurant flung open hitting the wall marked with graffiti. The couple kissing jumped when they heard the crash of the door. They chuckled softly as they made their way out of the ally. Colt carried two large black bags filled with garbage.
He chose the perfect job. Low key. Hidden in plain sight. He hid his spirit well. No wonder the seers had such a hard time tracking him down.
He threw the trash into the bin then paused. Before I knew it, his arms were stretched out toward me. Six sharp objects were flying at me.
Good. He was able to sense me from such a distance. And he was prepared. I hope he kept up with his other training as well. I dodged the blades with ease and threw six blades of my own at the walls, which ricocheted at him. By the time he caught three of my blades and dodged the other three, I was behind him.
"You let me get close to you. Not a good strategy if you want to defeat your opponent," I said.
"Yeah, but I'm just too tired to chase you."
Colt swung his blade around. I side-stepped each attack. Before he threw three more blades at me, I have already disappeared into the shadows and reappeared jumping out from the shadow of a wall above, my two blades aimed for his neck.
Colt squatted and crossed his arms over his chest. Numerous blades emerged between his fingers. My eyes widened. I know that stance. The Iron Shower. It's difficult and requires years of intense training. I have only used it twice in my years with the organization. I created it as a last resort measure or if surrounded by multiple enemies. Colt thrust up. Blades flew in every direction. Some bounced off walls; others disappeared and reappeared from the shadows. This technique has a nine-eight percent hit ratio. Only one chance to counter the Iron Shower. If I screw up, I'm dead.
I quickly took off my black coat, swirled it around me, and a few blades disappeared in the coat’s darkness. The blades materialized from the coat flying at Colt. I emerged soon after watching Colt catch and dodge some of the blades. He was good, very good, but he wasn't prepared for my final blow, which struck him in his ribs. Two more blades flew into his chest and three more at his legs. The iron Shadow takes a lot of energy out of a person. He would've had a better chance defeating me in hand to hand combat
Colt collapsed to the floor. His left hand twitched. Blood traveled down the side of his ribs.
I stood over him and shook my head. What a waste of good talent. With more training, he could have easily surpassed me, maybe even become a Seer. However, that won't happen now, not after what he's done.
I pulled my Glock (which was equipped with an extended magazine and a silencer) out from my holster and let it hang at my side.
"Why'd you do it?" I said.
"You wouldn't understand. Love is a powerful weapon... and it defeated me."
"You knew the law, and yet you still left after her. Was all this worth it? This love?"
I was not expecting his next answer.
"Yes. And I would've done it again knowing the outcome," he said with a smile. "Did Claudia and David die peacefully?"
I nodded.
"Then I am ready to meet them."
I pointed the gun to his head and squeezed the trigger twice.
