From the outside looking in, Lexie and Landon Elliott have the perfect marriage, the perfect children, the perfect life and a thriving business. But when the Charleston, South Carolina, couple decides to chuck it all and move to Costa Rica, tongues begin to wag. Nobody knew that the business was failing, and that their marriage was unraveling at an alarming pace. Hopetown Road takes the reader on a journey of what happens when a seemingly perfect family tries, and fails, to keep up with the Joneses.
Throughout my entire life, writing has been the only constant. It began with me keeping daily journal entries from fourth grade through my senior in high school, and then sporadically for years after that. It has been a strong creative outlet for me, and putting the reader as close to the action as possible, is what I love to do best. I like to invoke the sights, sounds, and smells into every scene, so you feel as though you are right there with me. This is my first novel, and I hope you enjoy the ride as much as I enjoyed writing it.
Haven't we all done dumb things while having too much fun?
Book Excerpt
Hopetown Road
One blade makes direct contact with my forehead and the impact causes Landon to lose control while I am violently thrown backwards and together we collapse to the ground in a heap of arms, legs, broken glass, and blood. The last thing I remember is all the faces swimming in front of my eyes and a voice shouting, “Call 911!” As I reach up to touch my forehead I can feel the gushing of warmth of gushing blood and I instinctively know it is my own. Then the lights go out.
