Eric’s eyes scanned the last visible light of Airmont’s buildings from the Lincoln’s car window before the road led them through the woods again and into complete darkness.
Eric massaged the bridge of his nose, and glanced at Stuart Jason sitting in the darkened car’s back seat.
Jason stared into the black night; his unfocused eyes and tensed mouth accentuated his growing concern and disbelief. Then former DCI Jason sat back against the car seat. He leaned against the head rest and closed his eyes. “Fools,” Jason murmured.
