“No, I don’t. I think things happen that are out of our control. I believe in having a destiny, but we are free to form our own path to get there.”
“So the reasons you are looking for may not exist,” Elizabeth wisely said to him. “You are looking for something that doesn’t exist. So instead, you are trying to create reasons to explain the past when it doesn’t require any inquisition. You are in a battle with your own memory trying to fill in the gaps when there are actually no gaps in place. One thing happened, it ended, and another thing started. There doesn’t have to be a transition between them.”
