“If you think I’m going to cop out, you’re wrong,” he said to them with a serious face. “My passion in life is teaching and this is my calling. It’s not a coincidence that I am starting my career here. I’m here for a reason and not a season.” These words seemed to strike interest in some students as he saw some of them smile at the rhyme. “I’ve never been a quitter and I’m not about to start. No sir, not today and not this year. If you think you can get me to leave, try it. I bet you’ll fail.”
The kids were quiet and looked around the room at each other. On the inside, it seemed like their emotions were stirred up. Hakim always felt a natural connection to teaching as he had many life lessons he could share. He always wanted others to learn from him and did not hesitate to tell stories. The kids were impressed, but it would still take more effort to gain their trust.
