Joey was happy to drop into a chair. His feet were hurting. But he was also quick to retake the initiative. “As I said, Lieutenant Colonel, we are looking into the death of Captain Manigrove. The county coroner is unhappy with his findings. It seems the captain was torn apart internally. He does not know whether this was the result of an accident or occurred by design. But someone tried to cover up the death by running his body over with a truck.” Joey paused, letting his information sink in. Then he continued, “Since the captain was assigned to this very sensitive outfit, the CID and the FBI have been ordered to determine the cause of death and whether it had anything to do with his role here. I know you will give us your full cooperation, sir.”
“Yes, of course,” Doyle responded, his face a mask.
