6. Negotiation Skills
Negotiation is the process of working with a buyer or a company to reach an agreement on pricing or billing. To negotiate a deal, you need to understand that everyone wants to get something out of it. I’m the seller, you’re the buyer, so I’m trying to sell, you’re trying to buy, but we’ve got to negotiate the price or the service, whatever it is. To be a good negotiator, you have to be able to listen, identify, and understand what the other party wants. It comes back to interpersonal skills. If you don’t build that skill, chances are you’re not going to be able to negotiate very well.
