“I didn’t say the consequences of not helping me would be solely yours to bare. Without my mother’s love the entire world will feel the effects of destruction,” Selk intoned darkly.
With that statement Iseult’s violet eyes widened to the size of dinner plates and goose bumps formed on her arms. “You can’t be serious,” she whispered shakily.
With a sneer on her face, Selk replied, “Unfortunately for you, I am deadly serious.” The poison in her voice caused Iseult to freeze in place.
“Wait a minute! Are you saying that ancient Gods are real and trying to interfere in the world to this day,” detective Otokar asked incredulously.
With gritted teeth Selk coldly answered, “Little mortal, are you truly daft? Just because you can’t see things doesn’t make them any less real. Of course that’s what I’m saying,” Selk finished in exasperation.
Detective Otokar sputtered in response to Selk. Before the detective could think of a response Iseult saved him from further embarrassment. “The Godlings still exist?”
“That we do. Upon reaching our teenage years it is nigh on impossible for us to die. I have been around for more ages than you know exist. Sadly for all of those years I, and the world, have been without a mother’s love,” Selk confirmed as she lowered her jade colored eyes to the floor.
Iseult lowered her eyes to floor as she contemplated what such a loss might mean to others. Before she could attempt to console Selk her arm began to smoke.
