Often, even if at an unconscious level, we are invested in whatever is holding us back. Sometimes, it’s a fear of success that can be even more debilitating than a fear of failure. Sometimes, we’re afraid that whatever we are engaged in will change us so radically that it will render us unrecognizable, as much to ourselves as to others. How are you invested in your inability to move forward with your writing?
Get comfortable, close your eyes, breathe into a relaxed meditative state and focus on that question — not from your mind but from your heart. Then open your eyes and write on the Muse Stream from this phrase, “My writer’s block helps me to...”
Write until you feel complete, then keep writing for a further 15 or 20 minutes in order to go deeper.
Were you surprised? Whatever it was that emerged will assist you in the next chapter, as you “Talk to Your Block.”
