Nature’s Winter Recipes: Tummy Warming for Bone-Chilling Days
There are seasons in life. Don’t ever let anyone try to deny you the joy of one season because they believe you should stay in another season … listen to yourself. Trust your instincts. Keep your perspective.

A Hot Drink for Cold and Flu Symptoms
1 grapefruit—preferably pink or white inner fruit (preferred to red inner fruit)
3 cups purified water
1 tsp. honey—locally grown, unfiltered
• Wash grapefruit and cut into four wedges. Use produce wash in Nature’s Spring Recipes, Chapter 11.
• Fill 1-quart saucepan with purified water and warm over medium heat.
• Squeeze grapefruit juice from cut wedges into warming water; immerse the squeezed wedges into the water; continue simmering until hot.
• Prepare a mug with honey; pour hot grapefruit juice into mug, stir and enjoy.
• Sprinkle a pinch of cayenne powder on top, if desired.
Connie’s Comments: This is an excellent drink when your body is congested. When taken before bedtime, this soothing drink promotes sound sleep. The cayenne warms the body and increases circulation which is helpful during cold and flu symptoms. If grapefruit is not available, lemon will work as well.
Note: grapefruit interacts unfavorably (and sometimes dangerously) with many prescription medications. Please review any medications you are taking before using this grapefruit beverage.
