Joshua put on his bravest face. “No. I just don’t normally fly in something this small.”
Darla tilted her head back, laughed, and returned her attention to him. “It’s the only way to get around in the Keys.”
Joshua wanted to ask her what was going on, but Darla’s grandiose demeanor seemed out of character. He took that as a hint to keep any real questions to himself for the time being. Instead, he sat back and soaked in the view as they left Key West and headed deeper into the Caribbean. The waters were clear enough to see a few sharks and other large fish. A thermal caught the plane, and it shuddered. Joshua looked over at Darla, gave a sarcastic smile, and then turned back to the window. What am I doing here? His fingers embedded into the armrest.
