Within twenty-four hours both men had disappeared. Camera footage of their rooms seemed to show both men combusting as the first rays of sunlight crept into their room.
The media nightmare that followed ended with a lot of people losing their jobs. To have the men who had committed such high-profile attacks just disappear from their cells the morning of their trial was preposterous and heads needed to roll. Investigators scoured the facility where the men had disappeared in the hopes of finding some clue as to what had happened to them.
Trisha had been away at her home in upstate New York, researching what could have happened, and she had missed the attack. As she returned back to the city, she picked up a newspaper off of a bench on the subway shortly after the disappearance of the two jailed vampires. She rolled her eyes as she read the headline.
