CHAPTER 4
Leonard knew Cross had the gift after their second meeting in the record store. Their second meeting on that rainy Sunday evening, everything that was taught to Lenny was revived as he sat and talked with the young boy through the night. From their first encounter with each other Lenny wondered how Cross knew his name without him telling it to him. He soon found out. Leonard himself has the gift and feared for the young boy that so eagerly walked into his life. With all Cross’s desire for knowledge and bad attitude Lenny dreaded to even think of what the boy’s future might be. He knew without the right morals in life the gift could cause major complications. Lenny remembers how his eagerness and desirous ways made anything and everything sound interesting. Lenny knew he must try to prevent the ways that he was once tempted to go to and without his guidance Cross could be in greater dangers than he ever thought possible. There were things about the gift that Lenny wanted to tell Cross before someone else did and made a bad influence on the young boy, but knew that Cross was much too young at the time of their meeting to understand most of what Lenny had to say.
