Andrew Barton is an ordinary man who, each weekend, stumbles into extraordinary circumstances. With a college degree in Agricultural Sciences but a job driving a forklift in a warehouse, Andrew, like many of us, finds that his release from the humdrum workweek comes through the tinkering in his garage on the weekends. Although his goals are directed toward other ends, he mistakenly travels through time, into other dimensions and even ends up taking his family and friends on a ride to a location that is the last place anyone ever wants to end up! Lines of Force will take you on adventures that you’ll never forget and want to enjoy time and time again. Let Andrew Barton take you along to unexplored territory in this book about mistakes becoming incredible exploits!
Drew Bankston lives in the Rocky Mountains with his wife, two amazingly perfect dogs, and a garden.
Before he started writing science fiction, Drew received his bachelor’s degree in Bio-Ag Sciences from Colorado State University. After that, just to shake things up, he never really used that degree but worked various jobs in retail and Asset Protection with some really important people who are way too dignified to be named here. He’s still working but would eventually like to write full-time and stop working for other people. He likes pie and chocolate, as everyone should.

I've always loved to speculate how this world would have turned out if only one or two things had been different, and I tend to write things that reflect that. In "Lines of Force" Andrew invents things that he doesn't know how to control and consequently, he ends up in some very strange situations including inter-dimensional travel. In this particular chapter, he's jumped to a world where things have changed and morals are completely upside down from the way he was raised. The person who is his best friend in his home dimension is explaining the differences. They horrify Andrew but are perfectly normal to Matt. How would you fare stepping into a totally different world?

Lines of Force: The Weekend Adventures of Andrew Barton
“Now I‘m convinced even more. Let me tell you about where you are now. In our world, when a female child is born, they receive an implant that controls the ovaries and uterus and their functions. Women can only get pregnant by petition to the government. When the government approves, the implant is switched off. Most women choose not to do this, as they then have to deal with menstruation, cramps and the whole messy, unpleasant thing. After the child is born, the government takes it to one of the many growth facilities, where it’s named, raised and educated. Because sex is a primal emotion, back in 1922, congress passed an amendment to the constitution saying that sex is a God given right and the Freedom of Sex act was enacted. Because sex is such a common thing with only minimal boundaries, there are no more sex crimes, and our society, world wide, became more relaxed and more productive. There are still a few odd groups that hold out, claiming that monogamy is the way to go, and Utah is one of the biggest. It has several offshoots of religious factions that claim monogamy is the only way to live. They still live the way people did a hundred years ago. Poor women, going through that misery every month. Not to mention menopause.” Julie made an audible and unpleasant sound. Andrew smiled to himself. “So,” Matthew continued, “around age 14, boys and girls are given sex education. At 16, the government helps them find jobs and places to live until they are 18. Then they should be on their own. Many, like Kota, find local couples to help with their partner training.”
