Aunt Serena laughed. “Come now, you can’t tell me you love that louse!” she said.
“I—I do, I think.” I said. But then again, if he was out of the country, I’d be free of my husband’s rages.
Aunt Serena snorted. “Women can be such fools.” She said. “Divorce him and take another husband before he becomes your ruin. The queen of Gaia will not care.”
I said nothing. Then I agreed to let Robert spy for my country.
“Good. Do not worry niece, I will keep a close eye on him.” Aunt Serena said.
“Thank God,” I said.
“And while he’s away, you can have Joshua all to yourself.” Aunt Serena said.
I smiled at that idea.
“Me? Spy for your country?” Robert asked me suspiciously.
“Robert, you would be helping the Morning Star Alliance greatly.” (Indeed, we had begun calling ourselves the Morning Star Alliance, based on one of Christ’s names. The pagans in our group had agreed to the name as well because many of them also revered the planet Venus back in the Earth Solar System as a goddess.)
