After a long hectic day at work, I prepare dinner for one and turn on my laptop. In the quiet of my bedroom, the bed is where I stretch out after work. My pajamas are on, rollers and pink silk scarf on my head.
Now is play time!
Living alone can sometimes seem lonely. Friends online make me smile and forget my solitude. The online experience provides a false sense of belonging.
Checking out my newsfeed. A group I recently joined is active. People are chatting and posting emojis. I post on the active conversation. It is always filled with friendly lively people. Sometimes everyone tries to post at the same time.
My gurl Andrea and I talk about our day. She always has a joke to make everyone laugh. One man consistently keeps posting messages to me interrupting our conversation. I answer him and continue chatting with my girl. Information was posted about a group meet and greet. I am excited about the possibility of a trip outside of Florida.
It has been awhile since I travelled. Meeting new people, visiting a new city would be engaging and exciting. My mind is enthusiastic about this possible trip.
I live in Northwest Tampa. My neighborhood is quiet. A Popeyes restaurant is conveniently next door in a local strip mall. Popeyes has supplied my dinner tonight. Biting into some warm fries, I receive a video message request
I click on the message. “Hi, I am Ed. Have been checking you out for a few days. Can we talk?”
Looking at Ed’s face, he is handsome. Those eyes are dark intense diamonds. I feel like he is looking right through me. Kinda creepy yet interesting. I accept the video message.
“Hi Ed, I am Dani. How are you tonight?” My voice is friendly but curious.
