Night has fallen as I enter the loading dock at the back of the Del Sarto building. The rest of the gang is standing around in a circle, waiting. They all look at me as I enter.
Franky sneers menacingly.
“’Bout time you showed up kid.” The coke head scowls.
Sal steps forward, laying a hand on Franky’s chest.
“Back off Franky,” Sal orders.
Sal turns to me with a grin.
“You’re right on time kid.”
Sal flicks his cigar nonchalantly, addressing the group with the plan.
“So here’s how it’s going to work…I’m going to stay here while you five load into this cleaning truck and unload behind the bank…Benny will go to the door and convince the night guards that he’s the new cleaning guy,” Sal explains.
I glance around the group. Each man listens intently and seriously.
“He’ll let the rest of you get the drop on the guards while Franky keeps them quiet…then Joey is going to climb up into the ceiling and cut the lines for the security system…then he’ll come down inside the first security door and open it from the inside for the rest of the crew,” Sal continued. “Charlie will blow the exterior vault door…the inner door requires more finesse, so Dom will use his skills to get us over the final hump.
“Then you’ll knock out the guards and haul ass out of there with the cash and come back here so that we can divvy it up,” Sal concluded.
