“Yep, Mr. Geek here, believing in fairy tales and the proverbial happy ending. What if there is no happy ending to the tale, and the good times are already history?”
EZ pulled back a bit and admonished, “Why, Dr. Quinton! To hear you talk like that makes me very uncomfortable, indeed! You should be ashamed of yourself thinking this is as good as it gets for them! Next, you’ll be saying the same thing about us! Let me tell you something, buster, we gotta lotta more good stuff on the way. Don’t start looking backwards, wondering where did it all go wrong!”
Quip, now ashamed at his negative comments, agreed, “Yes, sweetheart, you’re right. I’m sorry to let their unconnected circumstances bring me down. I just can’t help but want things to work out for them as well as they have for us, that’s all.”
EZ now calmed down a bit and nuzzled a little closer to him as she suggested, “I expect the best medicine for them is to be back in the game doing family business. That will quickly return the first stage of self-worth.
“Once they see that their skillsets are valued for work, they’ll have to cross paths. Then they can work on gathering back the lost feelings they had for each other. I don’t think they lost their feelings, just their way. Perhaps a bit of stubbornness. That’s the way I see it playing out.”
Quip nodded approvingly, gave her a hug, and added, “Not only are you an excellent unified communications specialist, you’re pretty good too at assessing the personal issues of a couple. Uh, will you remind me to tell you how wonderful you are, if I don’t say it often enough?”
EZ got even closer to Quip and in a very sultry voice murmured, “Honey, you should tell me how wonderful I am.”
