Confidence in The Faithfulness of God
Heb 11:6 (KJV) “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
Gen 4:7 (NKJV) “If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.”
Lam 3:22-23 (NKJV) “Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.”
Psalm 86:11 (NIV) “Teach me your way, LORD, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.”
Psalm 86:15 (NIV) “But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.”
Psalm 91:4 (NIV) “He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.”
2 Peter 3:1 (ASV) “This is now, beloved, the second epistle that I write unto you; and in both of them I stir up your sincere mind by putting you in remembrance…”
One of the things that has really helped me with building confidence in the faithfulness of God is keeping a journal of answered prayers, blessings and examples of His faithfulness. I find that I have often had to go back and remind myself of His faithfulness. Having these journal entries is like having an arsenal of testimonies to use against the enemy when he tries to tell me yet again how God isn’t going to come through for me this time.
Rev 12:11 (NKJV) says “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.” Sometimes I read the testimonies to myself, sometimes I say them aloud. I also put things like canceled debt letters or other physical examples of favor on the wall, the refrigerator or in a special book. I also share selected testimonies on Facebook. I use all these methods to “stir up my remembrance” and to overcome the pressure that the enemy is bringing at any given time.
I used to wonder how the children of Israel could keep forgetting the miraculous deliverance of God. But I find myself doing the same thing. Keeping these testimonies of God’s faithfulness helps me to stay grateful and stay confident of God’s faithfulness.
My advice to you is build your journal in a way that works for you. I used to use notebooks, but over the years I stacked up a lot of paper notebooks. Now I type them up in a Word document and store them by title and year. Storing them electronically allows me to easily pull them back up so that I can reread them or share them. They are also safe from, fire and other types of damage. My hope one day is to pass the journals onto my children.
