The guard threatened, “I am charged with letting no one into the facility for health and security reasons! Now stop, or we will be required to use force!”
The truck driver made a vulgar hand gesture without even looking back, while he called out over his shoulder, “Screw you! I’m going to get my stuff! File a complaint if you have to, but no one is stopping me from retrieving my belongings!”
The truck driver quickened his pace to a trot to make it to his truck ahead of the security guards making a grab for him. He circled the parked trucks looking for his and luckily found it before having to run the circumference of a building the size of Rhode Island, or Road Island as he liked to joke. Ducking into the truck, he narrowly avoided being spotted by the guards in hot pursuit. He quickly grabbed up his belongings and briefly waited until the guards were out of sight. He hurriedly got out of the cab and would have left the area except for the unusual sounds coming from inside the Constellation structure itself. He cautiously stepped back to the truck, and in between the docking bay and the truck, he peeked in to see what was going on.
He was stunned at what he saw. Instead of seeing hyper-efficient robotics routing and loading and unloading, he could only see mass chaos and unlimited destruction of what appeared to be new merchandise. What products weren’t being destroyed were aimlessly being routed into large piles and hopelessly jumbled so that sorting would take weeks. The sight was so all consuming, he didn’t hear the guards behind him until it was too late. The three guards he had outsmarted had circled back, dragged him back around the truck and now had him pinned to the ground.
Disregarding his own predicament, he hollered, “Hey! What’s wrong with the Constellation Distribution Center? You need to report that there is a serious problem going on inside there! If you don’t believe me, one of you take a look!”
The original guard smirked as he retorted, “You disobeyed a direct security command, and now you’re going to try the old look-over-there-and-try-to-run-for-it! Boy, are you a dim bulb!”
The truck driver chuckled and commented, “Yeah, you’re right! The two little old ladies you have helping you can’t possibly hold me down while you, laser brain, go see for yourself! I got my stuff, but you guys certainly have far worse problems! If you don’t believe me, send one of your old ladies here to go take a look!”
