Rule 1 - What goes around, comes around
Years ago, I was working in the kitchen when my daughter came home from school. When I say I was working in the kitchen, what I mean is I was replacing all the lighting. I had taken down the sheetrock in the ceiling and had been climbing on counters and ladders all day. I’d had a long day, and my emotional state was precarious. My daughter comes in from school and without preamble says, “Dad I need $30 for my yearbook, tomorrow.”
I ranted and railed and complained and otherwise reduced her to a barely conscious collection of organic matter. I still feel horrible about that. I forgot that she didn’t ask to be in my family; I volunteered to father her.
