Possessing Sara
Sara huddled in the easy chair in front of her bedroom window, watching dark night give way to a new day. Even though the room was warm, she shivered and drew a blanket tighter around her shoulders. How had she suddenly become a target for so many people? Hugging her knees to her chest, she stared at the telephone on the nightstand, her mind racing with ugly possibilities. Had Garth been the one who followed her from the convenience store? Given their closeness at the river, she couldn't believe he had, but he'd called in the middle of the night and been so confident she was still awake. Were he and Madame Celeste in league with Fiske and trying to frighten her off her investigations? She sighed and rested her forehead on her knees. There were others with clearer motives: Junior, Fiske's cousin Angela, and Kevin Warner's father.
