They take over her house for a month to plan the wedding. Losing her mother at birth, Winifred isn’t prepared for the scary dictator, the bratty child and creepy cat who take over her bedroom. Old Story, New Concept

This story may be based on the old tale of Cinderella, but Winifred is no simpering girl content to disappear into a corner. No, Winifred (and her Fairy Godmonster) offers a brand new twist on the classic tale.

What if?

I don't think any author can write unless they ask 'what if'? The phrase can be compared to a change of clothes. We feel different in a swimsuit than an evening gown or tuxedo. A myriad of decisions need to be made when deciding on character, setting, mood, action, or any other necessary element in a great story. What if my hero should be female? What if the villain is not a human as in my book "Enchantress Sacrifice." What if I kill this character or wound that one? That's the fun of writing--deciding on the best 'what if"s to create a story of value.

Nature's Impact

Nature surrounds us, yet we often take her bounty for granted, unless the elements rebel with hurricanes, tornados, tsunamis, and other natural disasters. Using nature as a character has it challenges and rewards. Aru is an unseen entity for most of the book with rumbles, smoke, fire, and unseen intervention. It has a presence nonetheless. And in the final sacrificial battle, Elandra discovers exactly what humans have done to the beautiful island that is their home. Only an Enchantress has the power to save everyone--if she is strong enough. This book could not have been written without the magnificent beauty and violence of nature.

The Beginning

“Enchantress Sacrifice” wouldn’t have been written if my artist/author friend, Suzan Noyes, didn’t take me to a writer’s conference. I needed something to read for five minutes and was inspired to write a few chapters that were so well received I decided to write the book. It’s the only one of my books that I started without an outline as the words started flowing.
