Can Max save the children from the Minotaur?

Joe, Jemima, and Charlie, together with the Athenian hero Prince Theseus, are on the trail of the Minotaur deep within the labyrinth. Things start going wrong when Princess Ariadne, who was supposed to wait outside the door to let them out, is spotted by her father and banished to her room under armed guard. Now the children and Theseus are trapped in the winding tunnels with no means of escape and the fearsome monster is hot on their heels. They need help and Max is the only one who might be able to save the day. The only problem is that he needs to explain the situation to Ariadne, but she doesn't know he can speak. How will she react when the cat tries to talk to her?

An encounter with the Minotaur

How would you feel about coming face-to-face with the legendary Minotaur which feasted on human flesh? You can imagine how scared the Lancelot twins and their friend Charlie are as they track the monster down to its lair amongst the dark and winding tunnels of the labyrinth. Despite having the famous Greek hero Theseus at their side, the children quickly realise that they can't rely on him to save their skins when things turn nasty - he turns out to be not quite the hero they'd expected.

When Max met Grassus...

Max manages to get into the villa where the children have been taken following the slave auction, but he doesn't know where to find them. Absolutely ravenous, he is drawn to the kitchen by the smell of food being prepared and gives Grassus, the cook, the fright of his life.

A bad day for Max

The children have been bought by Caecilius, a wealthy Pompeian, and are working as slaves in his house. Jemima has managed to smuggle Max in to the villa and has persuaded Grassus the cook to hide him in the kitchen. Today, however, preparations are in swing for a big party and the last thing the cook needs is a large cat getting under everyone's feet. So Max is told to make himself scarce for a while and ventures out into the garden ... a big mistake. What will become of him, alone on the streets of Pompeii?

A bonus for the slave dealer

Joe, Jemima, Charlie and Max have just arrived in the ancient Roman town of Pompeii ... in the year 79AD. The youngsters are puzzled to find themselves mixed up with a queue of people who are all chained together on the quayside. What the children don't know is that they've landed amongst a new shipment of slaves on their way to be sold at an auction in the market. Worse is to come: They are somehow mistaken for three extra captives who are not on the list - a pleasant surprise for the slave dealer, but a nasty shock for the young time-travellers when they finally realise what's happening.
