Whatever It Takes

Romance

Horses and hard work, Sam's daily regimen to keep her haunting memories at bay. But all it takes is a heatwave, a pair of familiar blue eyes, and a camping trip with the crew to crumble her walls and expose what hides behind them. This story contains raw emotion, romance, unwavering friendships, and a lot of heart.

Sunshine in shadow...

Whatever It Takes is a version of the first story I wrote in high school. It's very much a part of my childhood--the good and the sad, the hurt and the laughter. Writing this story, this excerpt in particular, was a nostalgic revisiting of the better parts of my life--my summers in the mountains with suns and lakes and country living. Nature fascinates me and horses are very much a part of my life, everything about writing this just felt...right, and it compensated for some of the harder, more darker moments poor Sam has to wade throughout in her journey. Despite the ups and downs, there is love and friendship, joy and resolution by the end.

Nothing But Trouble

Romance

Mac is a lot of things—smart, sexy, and she can curse like a sailor. But behind her megawatt smile and perfectly pink lips are scars that no one sees. When a tatted-up mystery man walks into her dad’s auto shop, jaw clenched and glaring at her, Mac’s confidence and cocky comebacks fall short. It’s not long before buried pain and unwanted memories resurface and her composed façade begins to crumble. Mac’s story is one of passion and tenderness, Christmas trees and snowball fights. It’s about the true meaning of family and the sacrifices we make for the people we love.

Icy blue, pretty in pink...

Cold as ice and perfect in pink are exactly how I would describe Mac and Colton, at least on the outside. The reader soon learns that's exactly what it is, first impressions. Mac is something else and she was a blast to write--she's feisty and kind and loyal to a fault. She's beautiful but real and true to who she is, at least as much as she can be. Colton is determined and focused and broken. But then again, so is Mac. Some of the curveballs were a surprise to even me, but overall, this story came easily. Though I am not Mac and my husband is not Colton, we did meet, working at a mechanic's shop together, and it's still very much a part of who he is, thus, who we are.
