Kate Darroch

A lifelong reader of sleuths like Sherlock Holmes and Father Brown, Kate believes that Reading is a pleasure which should be there for everyone! and so is passionate about making her books accessible. Kate loves travelling almost as much as reading, has lived in many different towns, cities, and rural retreats on three continents, and is settled happily in a remote seaside resort in gorgeous Devon, England. The colossal sense of community in the hamlets of Devon took Kate back in spirit to the Glasgow of her childhood, and that's how Màiri was born. Màiri is a Scots Irish school teacher whose hometown is Glasgow as it was in the 1970s.

Beginning of the Action in Death in Paris

This scene was a lot of fun to write. The book's story is all about how the Sleuth, Màiri, rescues her best friend Lianna from the clutches of the French Police, who believe that Lianna has murdered a corrupt tax inspector. Obviously there has to be some reason why the French Police have made such an egregious error, and this scene provides the reason that soon afterwards poor Lianna becomes the chief suspect in the murder.
