Pain is inevitable. But did you know there is a divine purpose for suffering? The Furnace of Affliction will help those who are struggling with the “why” of pain find hope. This book will encourage readers to look to God, who is greater and higher than any affliction. Horace Williams, Jr., a stroke survivor, well-acquainted with pain, The Furnace of Affliction, blends real stories, practical advice, and biblical truth. Together these elements create a salve that intends to change how you view pain and re-evaluate your response to it.

My favorite season of the year is Autumn. There is something quite soothing about Autumn. The unrelenting heat of Summer begins to wane. The leaves start to turn, and they crackle under your feet as you walk. There's a crispness in the air as the sun sets and the illuminating full moon rises. I'm sure everyone has their favorite seasons that they prefer over the others. However, we all face difficult Seasons of Change in our lifetime. I struggle mightily with changing seasons myself. . Financial Stress. An Unexpected Move/Firing. Unrelenting Grief. Pain and Suffering. Health Issues or Crisis. These are a few of the challenging, painful, and unexpected seasons in life that can throw us for a loop and turn our world upside down! Unlike the weather, we may never receive a warning that a season of change is about to crash into our lives like a tsunami! Here are five essential things we can do when facing a Season of Change. Try NOT to Blame; ourselves or others. Take a DEEP Breath; Thank God for His faithfulness. He's promised to never leave or forsake us. Hebrews 13:5. Take stock of YOUR life. Is there something God wants to TEACH us during this trying season? Embrace Seasons of Change. Though sometimes difficult, they are God's growth opportunities for YOU.
Grace. Unmerited Favor. Kindness. Compassion. Mercy. These are just a few of the words that define what grace is. However, nothing can compare to the magnificent grace of God. His love is unconditional, and His mercy is boundless! I continue to experience the grace of God in my life despite all my faults and failures. The great thing is that God still showers me with underserved favor. God does not expect perfection from any of His children. He created us. Our heavenly Father knows that we are human and are prone to sin. Yet He still loves us so. He wants what is best for us and has left us here on earth to fulfill our unique purpose. Everyone is essential in the body of Christ. Only YOU can complete the plans God has for you. Your story matters. Don't sell yourself short. He can transform your messes into a transforming message. So, embrace the indescribable grace of God. Seek His will for your life and be willing to attack with purpose and passion! It does not require any special skills, but it does require a willing heart. Are you preparing to be used by God in the way He has planned for you? You cannot comprehend all that God wants to do in your life! Get ready!!
How adaptable are you? Are you able to adjust to change on the fly? I'm a "serial planner." I prefer to have things all mapped out when trying to accomplish my goals. Have you ever had your plans diverted or changed due to circumstances? Yes, it can be frustrating when things do not go as planned. However, one thing is so important to remember that God has a purpose in everything, despite how painful the circumstances are. When we seek to do His will, He will not only empower us to accomplish His plan. God will give us the courage and the strength to thrive, even during the unexpected. When we attempt to do things independently outside of His will, we are asking for trouble. God has chosen you to become a part of His family. There are things He wants you to do for your benefit and His glory. He may sometimes use painful or unexpected circumstances to inspire us to change our course. So are you willing to walk the path that God has uniquely chosen for you, or are you going to rely on yourself? Choose wisely, friend. Choices have consequences.
Grace. Unmerited Favor. Goodwill. These are just a few of the words that describe what grace is. It's a word seen less and less of these days. With the growth of social media, everyone has an opinion or point of view, but often they are not shared with grace. Where has the goodwill toward our fellow man or woman gone? There is something to be said for treating one another with grace. I am not naïve enough to believe that showing grace is an easy thing to do. Thankfully for those who belong to Jesus, we have been indwelt by the Holy Spirit, whose divine power is available to us. He will give us the courage, wisdom, and strength to show grace. I know I have experienced God's power in dealing with those I'd prefer not to show them grace. There have also been moments when my grace has been in short supply. Moments that I'm not proud of, I admit. That's when I lean into the arms of the God who loves me so. My God continues to show me grace every day. I don't deserve His grace, but I thank Him daily for His grace and unconditional love. So, I am pleading with you today. Let's live each day with love and show a little grace to someone.
It's not usually a bolt of lightning or a booming thunder. But when you hear from God in your prayers, it is usually a still, small voice. A gentle whisper. A comforting scripture, pleasant words of encouragement, or the guidance you are desperately seeking. Prayer is more than just rattling off your list of demands like Jesus is your divine order taker. Prayer is taking time to share your requests and being still long enough to hear from Him. The most effective conversations involve two-way communication, and that includes when you are communing with God. I know that can be difficult, especially when you are hurting or caught in a trying circumstance. But that is when it is more important to listen for the soothing whispers of God. He knows you are hurting, and He understands your pain. So, please take a moment to quiet yourself and listen for his voice. It may not be an audible sound. Maybe it's a gentle reminder as you immerse yourself in His Word. If you are not sure where to begin, read the Psalms right in the middle of the bible. So, I plead with you not to underestimate the power of prayer. Talking with God is the best medicine for you, especially when you are hurting. Shh. Are you listening?
Christian. Exhibiting a spirit proper to a follower of Jesus Christ. Christlike. A person who believes in Jesus Christ. It is interesting to read these technical definitions of what being a Christian means. However, Christianity is more than just a religion. It is about one's relationship with Jesus. Being a Christian is personal. It begins with admitting our spiritual poverty. We recognize our desperate need for salvation because of our propensity to sin. Being a Christian is more than the intellectual knowledge of God. It is about the heart. Has a transformation taken place? I am passionate about this because I have friends and family who know "about" God, but they don't really "know" Him on a personal, intimate level. Christian parents raised me. There was nothing I didn't "know" about God. Every time they were open for service, I was at church, but I never made a conscious effort to understand what it means to be a Christian. But now, my love for Jesus is genuine. I recommitted my life to Christ almost nine years ago. God has inspired me to share my story to encourage readers to draw nearer to God and seek Him daily. Being a Christian doesn't exempt you from experiencing painful problems. But when you have a genuine relationship with Jesus, you can have hope!
Faith. Everybody has it to a certain degree—especially children. You exhibited faith when you got up this morning. You trusted that the water would run from the facet in the bathroom. You believed that the chair in the kitchen would support you when you sat down for breakfast. You didn't inspect the chairs or the facet, wondering if they would do what you have grown accustomed. Before you sat at your desk, you didn't begin an investigation to make sure everything was okay. However, there is a faith that can and will transform your life completely! A faith that gives you peace during hard times and hope when your heart is hurting. The key is JESUS. When He is the object of your faith, He gives you life anew! I speak from experience. For years, I put my faith in finances, friends, girlfriends, and even family members. None of those things have given me the hope that Jesus does. He is faithful even when my faith is weak or lacking at times. There is no better feeling when He intervenes in your life when no one else could or would. So, if you want to change your life, come to Jesus. Give Him your heart. Allow Him to work in your life as He seeks to transform you! TRUST HIM.
Have you ever been hurting so bad but could not find a way to explain what you feel? You want to share your feelings with those who love you, but you wish desperately that your pain will go away! For years, many tried to understand the pain I was feeling. I appreciated their concern, but I struggled to explain how devasting my pain was, and it continues ravaging my body today. The results of physical pain can have a severe effect on one's emotional well-being. There is someone who understands and knows about the pain you are experiencing. Whether your pain is physical, emotional, or possibly you have a spiritual conflict? Are you angry at God? Do you wonder if He even sees you or hears your cries for help? Are you still waiting for answers in your trying situation? Well, I want you to know that GOD SEES YOU! Check out this verse from Psalms 40. I waited patiently for the LORD, and He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit and out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. I will explain God's purposes for you in your pain. He has a unique plan for you.
Are you a good listener? How good? Even better, are you an engaged listener? People that know me would laugh at this, but I consider myself a shy person. Maybe even an introvert. At least, until I get to know you, I tend to be reserved. However, I love to observe people and then, if possible, listen to people and their conversations. Many people love to talk to hear the sound of their voice but the act of listening is a lost art. When a person listens intently, they are paying attention to the words being spoken. They have an interest in the individual and what they have to say. They may even care for the person speaking. One quote that continues empowering me for decades is from a training I attended by the late great Zig Ziglar. He said, "The best communicators are GREAT LISTENERS." Especially as an author, I listen to my readers and my fans so I can continue to encourage their hearts-inspiring them to think deeply about what I've written. I continuously seek to hear from God, wanting His direction in what to write about daily. Do you want to take your relationship with God to the highest levels? Practice listening for His still small voice. It's a life-changer!!!
Sometimes when I hang out with my mother, there are times people believe we're a couple. It makes mom feel encouraged for someone to assume she's younger than her age. Mom and I have an extraordinary bond. I'm not sure if it is because I'm her firstborn child, but I know that there have been occasions where I have disappointed her by my actions. She chose to discipline me when I was younger, no matter how difficult it may have been for her. Looking back, the things she instilled in me benefited me greatly as I got older. It didn't always make sense why I had to do certain chores, but she instilled in me the pride of doing things right and the importance of working hard. I learned that nothing is given to you but is earned through planning, preparation, and discipline. To this day, I still remember some of the painful times of growth from the lovingkindness of my mother. My mother is the biggest supporter of my writing exploits these days. She was always encouraging me to write more ever since she discovered my proficiency at poetry. If you are blessed to have your mother still with you, express your love for her this weekend. It will give you both tremendous joy!
"The devil made me do it!" Do you remember when that was an overused phrase many years ago? The devil is not someone to take lightly at all. He is real, and hell is a real place. Whether you believe it or not, these things are true. He intends to do you great harm. The Bible warns us about this dangerous enemy. He was bold enough to tempt Jesus while here on earth to no avail. Read this verse from Luke 4. When the devil had finished tempting Jesus, he left Him until an opportune time. He wasn't done tempting even Jesus. So, how do you think He approaches you and me? Relentlessly. Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil; he prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8. It may be a sneak attack full of cunningness and guile like with Eve in the garden. Or maybe it's a full-on assault intending to distract and detour you from the destiny God has for you. So be on guard. Stay prepared. Hide God's Word in your heart, and with God's help, you will handle anything the devil has in store for you.
Have you ever had that sick feeling in your gut that you were all alone? Have you ever felt like things are hopeless and wonder what is going on in your life? Do you sometimes wonder where God is in the midst of your storms? Friend. I have been there myself. I've felt like I'm all alone at times. Painful health scares resulting in permanent damage. Unexpected job uncertainty. Broken heart on multiple occasions. Losing loved ones. Loneliness. I could go on, but I want to encourage your heart and inspire you to think. GOD LOVES HIS CHILDREN. He never promised us that our lives would be easy. Instead, He forewarned us of trials, tests, and tribulations. (John 16:33) The GOOD NEWS is that despite everything, we can still live with joy even in the midst of our challenging, painful, and trying times. In my latest book, The Furnace of Affliction: How God Uses Our Pain and Suffering for His Purpose, I will share with you several things that God wants to do in your life to fulfill His unique purpose for you. From personal stories, input from Biblical leaders, and truths from God's Word, I hope that things will begin to make a little more sense in times of trial and testing. Read it today!
Have you ever asked where God is or what He is doing in your life? Are you in desperate need of some hope right now? The Furnace of Affliction does not sound or feel like a place anyone wants to be. But what I have learned after being in the furnace myself, God has chosen you to be an essential part of His family. In the fiery trials, you face or will face, He is refining, restoring, and renewing you for a unique purpose—a purpose intended for your good and His glory. "If you have ever questioned God's love for you when you are suffering, this story will encourage and challenge you. Horace shares the struggles he has faced and how God uses and redeems our pain." Sheila Walsh, co-host of Life Today and author of Praying Women. "Horace Williams writes from a place of hope for those who are in the middle of pain and suffering. When times are hard, we can't help but cry out and wonder "why". This book gives us a deeper look into the answers to our questions." Lori Schumacher, founder, Moments of Hope. I pray this book encourages your heart as you read.
Affection. Appreciation. Fondness. Devotion. These are a few of the words that can describe what love means. However, I prefer these words better. Unconditional. Everlasting. Genuine. Real. These words describe the incomprehensible love that God has for us. A love He has had for us since we were born. A love that we need to lean into every day by remembering all that He has done. He only asks that we return His love by how we live and how we treat others. May we live in a way that honors Him while drawing people to Christ. He understands our faults, shortcomings and knows we are not perfect, but He loves us still. He formed us in the womb, and we are fearfully and wonderfully created vessels to bring Him glory. (Psalm 139) There is nothing that surprises God. I want you to remember that no matter where you have been in life or what you have done, GOD LOVES YOU. So, I implore you to go out and live with indescribable joy! YOU ARE LOVED.
So many times, when the painful, unexpected trials reveal themselves in our lives, we want to ask God, "Why is this happening?" Instead, we should be searching deep within our hearts, asking Him," What do you want me to learn from this, Lord?" Remember, nothing that occurs to us is a surprise to God. He is at work in our lives for our good and His glory. There is always a divine purpose for the painful difficulties and trying circumstances taking place. Even though He causes all things to work together for good. (Romans 8:28) Our versions of "good" may differ from God at times. That is why we need to discern what God is doing in our lives. Are there sins in our lives that need removing? Does our faith in Him need strengthening? Is our pride taking over as we try doing things on our own? Have we taken advantage of the grace of God and are in need of discipline? These are just a few of the things that can be the reason for our pain and suffering. We need to ask God what He wants us to see or learn from during these painful trials. If we are willing to do that, we will grow spiritually and draw closer to Him. What a blessing!
Before I was afflicted, I went astray. But now I keep Your word. You are good and do good; teach me Your statutes. It was good for me that I was afflicted, that I might learn Your statutes. Psalms 119:67-68, 71. I remember the first time I read this passage of scripture after my stroke. The words of the psalmist spoke to me loudly! For years, I had been living foolishly under the grace of God, not fulfilling the purpose He had intended. As I stated in an interview last night, God's intention was for me to do something bigger than myself. His aim was for me to not only immerse myself in His Word but to share what He reveals to me to others. Encourage their hearts. Inspire them to draw near to Christ. I am thankful that God continues to guide and direct me to do his will. So, I challenge you to seek God with your whole heart. Don't take advantage of His grace any longer. He will empower you to accomplish His will for your life. There is no better joy!
After surviving the past twelve months, I know that many are hurting out there. The physical and emotional toll of pain can be debilitating, but WE CAN HAVE HOPE! Five months ago, I lost my father to a heart attack due to his Alzheimer's. Even though he couldn't communicate with me for years, I know he's in heaven right now. I spoke to him on his death bed and told him it was okay to move on. Jesus was ready for him. I promised my dad that I would continue to share the good news of the gospel of Christ. When I said that, his eyebrows raised, and he began to smile and move his arms. My sister encouraged me to keep talking because dad was responding to my words! Hours later, my father went home to be with the Lord, and someday, we will reunite in heaven. How can I be so sure? In John 14, Jesus says; I go to prepare a place for you...I will come again and receive you unto myself, that where I am, there you may be also. John 14:2,3. I cannot wait to reunite with my dad and see Jesus! Oh, what a glorious day that will be! Jesus wants you to embrace His love for you and to have hope in Him.
Friends come in all shapes, sizes, ethnicities, and colors. I was reading a devotion last year from a respected author, bible teacher, and pastor. The article encouraged those in ministry to cherish the people who come alongside them to help on their journey. He stated that people come and go in your life and ministry and not get too discouraged when that happens. He encouraged not to get down but to press forward in doing God's will. Even though it is my name on the cover of my books, it has taken a village of people to help me get to this point in my writing career. (Many of whom I consider friends.) Going back over ten years, I thank God for those who have helped me, supported and encouraged me, and continue to pray for me. I wait with anticipation to see God's leading for my new book. I had a new idea this past week, and I am praying for wisdom. The Furnace of Affliction would not have been possible without the help of a dear friend calling 911 and God's intervention. I pray that you are encouraged and inspired to find your purpose in reading this book.
Many people do not experience joy at Christmas. My intent is not to minimize the hurt some face come holiday time. Personally, despite having several painful holiday moments, I still remember some of the joys of Christmas fondly. At thirteen, I desperately wanted a ten-speed Schwinn bicycle for Christmas. That was all I wanted and hoped for that year. We didn't have a lot of money at the time, so I kept my expectations low. Tip-toeing out of my room on Christmas Eve after everyone had gone to sleep. Quietly making my way into the living room, I headed to where our Christmas tree stood. There it was! Leaning against the wall next to the tree was a baby blue ten-speed bike! The lights on the tree were reflecting off the bike. Quickly retreating to my room, I wanted to scream with joy as I laid back down. I don't know how I ever drifted off to sleep? Seven years later, I surprised my girlfriend of two years with an engagement ring. The look on her face was priceless, and she said, "yes!" These experiences were the result of something joyful happening. However, nothing compares to the joy of understanding God's purpose for your life. I will share with you what real joy is in this inspirational book.
I am so thankful for God's desire to continue growing us up in Him. However, spiritual growth spurts can be painful at times. It is comforting to know that God is always with us in the painful moments when our faith is developed. We can have hope because God desires for our lives to be abundant. He is with us during the painful moments of spiritual growth. So, we must ask Him to guard our hearts and minds. Infuse us with His wisdom and shower us with His grace. He will help us make better choices when we listen to the Holy Spirit's still small voice. Are you listening?
Purpose. Ambition. Aspiration. Desire. These are just a few of the words that describe purpose. When you embrace God's purpose for yourself, you can begin to live victoriously! Every decision you make is based on fulfilling His purpose for your life. It is immensely fulfilling when you discover a purpose that is bigger than one's self. There is no better feeling than waking up each day having a purpose. Especially a purpose that resides in the center of God's will. Are you ready and willing to embrace God's purpose for you? If so, seek God in prayer. Dive into His Word. Don't be afraid to ask Him to show you His will. He will answer your prayers. Be willing to wait for His guidance. He will answer. Maybe an opportunity opens up. A circumstance encourages you to act. Step out in faith and trust Him. Five years ago, I had no idea about publishing books. Believe me, I was excited and scared. However, God continues to bring people alongside to help, support, and encourage me. Now I can't think of anything I would rather do than writing about my Savior. I enjoy encouraging the hearts of many and giving them hope. So, I ask you, have you found your purpose? What is holding you back?
Have you ever asked where God is or what is He doing in your life? Do your trials and suffering feel like they are never-ending? Are you in need of some hope to keep moving forward? The Furnace of Affliction does not sound or feel like a place anyone wants to be. But here is what I have learned after being in similar situations. God has chosen you to be an essential part of His family. In the fiery trials you are facing, He is there refining, restoring, and renewing you for a unique purpose. "After experiencing suffering in his life, Horace allowed God to use excruciating trials to shape and teach him important truths that he shares with us in this book. Truths we need to hear when we find ourselves experiencing pain in our lives. His book has been a great encouragement to me personally in my season of suffering." "As someone who suffers from a variety of chronic illnesses, I could relate to Horace's story and found hope, encouragement, and inspiration from his perspective." This book embodies the promise to all believers found in Romans 8:28. God can and does us the fiery furnaces of this life for our good and His glory!" "I loved this book; it is full of hope!"
It is easy sometimes to fall into the habit of complaining without even realizing it. The reality is that we have so much to be thankful for each day. In James 1:17, it reads, every good thing and every perfect gift is from above. I thank God each morning for being able to stand up each morning and walk out of my room. For months I was confined to a bed, wondering if I'd ever walk again or what my life would be like going forward. Here I am. Having lost more than half my weight ten years after the stroke. Writing enthusiastically about the magnificent power and transforming love of God. My life could have ended on July 1st of 2010. I was a couple of honey-baked biscuits from 500 pounds! I had high blood pressure, a skyrocketing sugar count, and a boatload of denial. But God had a unique purpose in store for me. A story that only I could tell. So I guard my mind and my mouth when it comes to complaining. Whatever is rumbling around in my mind usually makes it out into the world in some way. Thank God for blessing me with the gifts and talents to help and encourage people through my writing. What are you grateful for today? Think about it.
As I mentioned here last week, " Pain and suffering grab our attention." However, how we respond to the unexpected adversity in our lives affects our time spent in The Furnace of Affliction. God chose us and welcomed us into His family. He has a unique purpose specially designed for you and me. That is why it is essential to stay attuned to his voice, even in the most difficult and painful circumstances. So, as David said in Psalm 119, we need to ask God to give us understanding. Seeking diligently to do His will, and He will answer our call. Don't lose hope. We are not alone and have not been abandoned.
When we go through painful experiences or face the reality of having to live through trying times, our faith in God should increase as we seek shelter from suffering. Whether or not you are currently suffering physically or emotionally, you will, at some point, be faced with the choice to stand firm in your faith in God or want to lash out and cast blame. You may blame yourself, blame someone else, or get angry and turn away from God. Before you do that, remember God understands suffering. He suffered for us on the cross as the perfect sacrifice for our sins because He loves us unconditionally. Because of Christ's sacrifice, we have put our faith in Him in the hope of spending eternity in Heaven someday. It is the same faith that gives us hope amid suffering. There are several stories in the Bible where Jesus healed people not only because of His compassion but because of their faith. God wants us to have resolute faith regardless of the pain and suffering we are exposed to or experience. Jesus stated in John 16:33 that we will have tribulation but to take courage in remembering that He has overcome the world. Understand the pain in your life has a divine purpose. Trust God's plan for you!
It was about a month ago that we laid my father to rest. He had battled with Alzheimer's for years and passed away from a heart attack. I thought I had experienced pain before, but nothing hurt like the hole burned into my soul when I got the news that my dad was gone. Dad was a brilliant man who loved the Lord with all his heart. He spoke several languages. and told everyone about the Jesus Christ. I believe that is why his memorial service was more a celebration of life and not a mourning. We were extremely sad at his passing, but I am confident that he is in heaven right now. It's more than being a great person and a good man full of compassion. My father gave his heart to Jesus. Faith in Jesus Christ is the only way to have salvation. Read John 14:6 where Jesus says I am the way. The pain is not so raw now. But I miss my dad dearly. I am blessed because now I have two fathers watching over me from heaven. Dad and Jesus are keeping their eyes on me and that gives me tremendous peace right now. if you have suffered loss, I pray that you will seek the comfort of Jesus. Oh, how He loves you so!
“The Furnace of Affliction gives us an in-depth view of how God uses and even orchestrates times of pain and sorrow to refine us into the image of Christ. Horace Williams Jr. shares honest insight into his own life and relies heavily on scripture, making the book a powerful must-read for anyone who has ever felt abandoned by God or struggled to reconcile His love with a world full of suffering.” — Phil McGlothlin, associate pastor, Matthew Road Baptist Church
For years I thought my purpose in life was to be a professional athlete. In high school, I would practice relentlessly for hours to hone my craft as a basketball player. I had always been very athletic, and I thrived in multiple sports, but basketball became my passion. I became an All-Star basketball player in high school. However, in my senior year, things changed on numerous levels. Injuries to both of my knees affected my ability to play basketball for an extended time. Even after recovering, my confidence as an athlete was severely damaged. I still love the game, and I sometimes wonder what could have been. Years after high school, I continued to search for my purpose. After decades of running away from Him, God revealed that His purpose for my life was bigger than me. He inspires me every day to reach people for Christ. My purpose now is clear. God wants me to encourage, enlighten, and inspire people to draw nearer to Him. God desires an intimate relationship with you and me. However, sometimes it takes painful circumstances for us to realize our need and dependence for Him. I pray that this book will give you hope in those "why God" moments and a clearer understanding of God's purposes in your pain.

In the world right now there seems to be turmoil everywhere we look. I felt the Lord leading me to write this book to shine as a beacon of hope for my brothers and sisters in Christ. We have access to God's power through prayer. He is waiting to hear from you. God loves you and He will shower you with blessings when you seek Him.
I love the story of survival and the faith of Corrie Ten Boom. However, when I read this quote about prayer, I had to share it because it sums up how many people apply prayer in their lives. Corrie states, "Is prayer your steering wheel or your spare tire?" Meaning, is prayer the driving force in your life, or do you call on it in an emergency? Do you maintain a repentant heart regularly so that God hears your cries immediately? Do you communicate with Him always? Thanking Him for the smallest of things to the largest? Provision. Protection. Wisdom. These are a few to start with during your conversations with God. I never understood the power of prayer. Not only in praying for myself but others. Loved ones, friends, and even people who I may never meet that request prayer. God is FAITHFUL. He loves it when His children come to Him in prayer. Just like any parent is blessed when their children realize their need for their help. Don't be resistant to pray or be unsure of yourself when it comes to prayer. There is supernatural, life-changing power in prayer. So, please don't make it your last resort when it comes to needing help. Make prayer a priority in your life. God wants to hear from you!
"If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don't you think He'll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you?" Wow! that is something to definitely think about and remember. This quote from Matthew 6:30. (Message version) God's love for you is unconditional. He accepts you just as you are, and He wants to hear from you. That is the beautiful thing about prayer. You can talk with him about anything at any time. Come to him as you are. His desire is for you to grow closer to him and recognize your need and dependence on Him. Whatever your situation or however you are feeling, you can talk with God. If you genuinely want to experience God's power in your life, it starts with prayer. Your relationship with God matters deeply to Him. You grow closer to God through consistent and purposeful prayer. So, make it your priority to spend quality time in prayer with the only One who loves you so. Trust God and watch Him work in your life!
Persevere. To maintain one's purpose despite difficulties, obstacles, and discouragement. July marks the tenth anniversary of me surviving a stroke, which at the time, weakened my entire left side. Most of us are facing unexpected difficulties and obstacles to varying degrees. We live determined to face these trials head on and press forward. With that in mind, we have to approach our prayers similarly. In verse seven of Matthew 7, Jesus instructs us to "Ask, and it will be given, seek, and you will find, knock, and it will be opened." He's telling us to persevere in our prayers. Seeing God work in my life through answered prayer, grows my faith in Him. I enjoy talking with God. Not only when there is a crisis-but communing with Him all the time. I thank God when I wake up, and my feet hit the ground in the morning. I thank Him once the Instacart shopper finds each grocery I requested in the middle of a pandemic. Once you make a habit of conversing with God a priority, you don't have to wonder if He hears you cry out to Him in a crisis. God loves His children. He wants what is best. So, persevere in your prayers-trusting God's perfect timing. He loves it when you lean into Him through prayer.
There is nothing too small or unimportant in your eyes to talk with God about. He cares deeply about every aspect of your life. He especially cares about your heart. Is your heart committed to Him? Is your faith in Jesus Christ alone or are you putting your faith in something else? Maybe a person, the government, or your job and your finances? You are not alone in these unprecedented days. God is in control. He wants you to put your complete trust in Him without any doubting. Dear heavenly Father, I come to You praying for those who are reading this right now. I ask that you will encourage them right now,Lord, please strengthen their faith in You, and let them experience Your power in their lives. In Jesus' name I pray , amen. Be encouraged today, knowing that someone has prayed for you and you are in God;s hands. Seek Him with all your heart.
It is easy at times for us to rattle off a long list of needs when we call out to God in prayer. He wants us to freely share what is on our hearts. However, there is something inspiring when God answers the prayers of someone else we've been praying for or praying with them about something. Our faith is strengthened when we see God moving in the life of another person. Our hearts are encouraged, and we experience a joy that ONLY God can provide. So, let's make it a point to pray specifically when we go to God in prayer. Asking people how we can pray for them, takes the focus off ourselves. Encourage them to be specific in sharing their requests. Then go to God in prayer-praying for them and yourself as well. Now patiently wait for God to work. Trusting Him completely! Jesus is making intercessory prayer for you, now you go ahead and pray for someone else. You will feel great in doing so! May God bless you and yours as you seek Him in prayer.
Waiting is beyond difficult for many of us. When it comes to waiting on God, that's a totally different situation. With the advent of the microwave, next day shipping, drive-thrus, and express lanes at the store and on the highway we have grown quite accustomed to not having to wait. However, God is not on our timetable. We have to recogni.ze that He wants what is best for us. Are we willing b to what for the best from the One who saved us? Do we ttust the Creator of heaven and earth to provide for our need? Do we think that God does not hear us or wonder if He still loves us? TRUST in HIM.God will never fail us. We need to have faith in His perfect timing. He will not disappoint. God loves you!❤❤
Prayer is not complicated. Prayer is not difficult. In fact, God has given us a template for how to talk with Him in Matthew 6. So, I ask you, how is your prayer life right now amidst all the uncertainty of tomorrow? Whether it feels like it or not right now, you have to know how much God loves you. His desire is for a relationship with you. It's not about religion or legalistic rules. It is about His unconditional love for you and me. However, you have to ask yourself, are you willing to humbly submit to Him? I know for myself. God had to knock me off my high horse and humble me almost ten years ago. I could have died on July 1st of 2010, but I didn't. I humbled myself and began to seek God's will for my life.He had bigger plans for me than my striving to maintain a six-figure salary. He wanted me to serve Him. I believe there are many like myself that God desires an intimate relationship. A relationship built of faith and trusting Him. Not relying on paychecks or putting our faith in someone or something. But a willingness to humbly seek His will. He will provide, protect, and love you. So, come to Him right now...please don't wait any longer. He's waiting for you.
Fear of the Unknown can lead many to react in a variety of ways. Worrying.Concern. Anxiety-just to name a few. The loss of a job and income. Uncertain futures for many people. The deaths of thousands due to this pandemic. All of these things have forced us to live a "new normal". A normal focused on isolation to protect ones self and others. However, sometimes in the isolation, it can be easy to feel alone on top of everything else you may be feeling. In fact the other night, I burst into tears for no apparent reason. I cried out to God asking Him for continued health, protection, and provision for my family.I asked him to bless our leaders with wisdom, and to heal our land. Afterwards,I was feeling so much better..Talking with my Lord and Savior gives me peace despite everything taking place. He promises to never leave or forsake us in Hebrews 13:5. I So, during these difficult times and uncertain days, get alone with God and let Him speak to you through His Word. Share with Him what's on your heart. You can find peace and hope from a God who loves you.Be well Stay safe, and may God bless you and yours..
Fear of the Unknown can force one to experience a variety of emotions. Worry. panic. anxiety. just to name a few. The coronavirus pandemic has caused many to experience these emotions sometimes on a daily if not hourly basis. Health concerns. Loss of employment and income. People dying and a not knowing what the future holds can definitely be scary. However, I continue to remind myself that I am not alone. There is a God who loves me. In Hebrews 13:5, God says, I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you. As I mentioned in my excerpt the tremendous pain and fear I felt in that hospital room almost 10 years ago. The only passage that my injured brain could try and recite was Psalm 23. Look at the phrases in these scriptures and find comfort in a God who loves you.
Sometimes it is easy to become discouraged when praying for those whom we love and seem to be searching.. Our desire is for the lost to find their way into a relationship with Jesus Christ. A relationship where their hearts are transformed and their lifelong desire is to live for and glorify Him. I'm so thankful for the relentless prayers of my parents as I struggled in the spiritual tug of war of living for myself and willingly surrendering my life to doing God's will. Now my life has an eternal purpose. A purpose that is bigger than myself and gives me great joy despite life's difficulties. I tell you these things to encourage the hearts of those of you who are praying for someone and those who are being prayed for right now.. Don't lose hope God hears your pleas for mercy. and help. Thank Him for His grace and never give up.. Keep on praying! There is power in prayer.
July 1st will be the ten year anniversary since I suffered a catastrophic stroke that paralyzed my left side at the time. We may never understand why painfully tragic events happen to those we know and love and why sometimes they seem to be taken from us way too soon. The loss of a loved one is devastating for everyone affected. I was shocked when I heard about the death of former NBA all-star and future Hall of Famer, Kobe Bryant.. He died tragically in a helicopter crash with his thirteen year old daughter and seven others on Sunday morning, January 26th. The suddenness of his death rocked the basketball community to the core and millions around the world. One of my sayings since my stroke is, "Every day is a blessing." Kobe's death reminded me that God allowed me to survive for a reason-to fulfill His purpose for my life. I will continue to write and share on the podcast, and wherever God leads as long as He gives me the ability and the inspiration. So, make it a point today to fulfill God's purpose for you and let the love of Christ radiate in such a way that those in your sphere of influence are affected. Because remember, every day is truly a blessing.
Sometimes we can convince ourselves that what we are going through is unimportant to God. Maybe we think it's something we can handle ourselves or something that God cannot. In those moments, talking with God is often our last recourse. We say to ourselves that we've tried everything, so why not pray about our situation? .And much to our surprise, we find out how much we matter to God. He usually shows HImself faithful-even when our faith seems to be running on short supply. We must never forget how much God loves us. He created every fiber, ligament, muscle, and organ in our body from head to toe! Look at what Jesus said “For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?" Matthew 6:25-26 Tell God what's on your heart today . He is waiting to hear from you.
Prayer is a mystery to many of us at times. Sometimes we don't know what to say to God. Then there are those moments that we wonder is He listening and did He hear our prayers? Let me remind you of this. God loves it when we seek to converse with Him. Don't waste time worrying about what to say. Tell God what is in your heart. Ask God to show you His will in EVERY situation. Don't go out and do what you want and then ask Him to bless it. When you ask God to show you His will with a repentant and obedient heart, HE WILL HEAR OUR PRAYER. His answer may not come in our time frame, but He will answer those who desire to do His will.
As followers and lovers of Jesus Christ, we have so much to be thankful for every day. God sent His only Son to die on the cross as a substitute for our sins. It is because of His sacrifice that we have the opportunity to fellowship with God on a daily basis. From the moment we accepted Jesus as Lord of our lives- confessing our sins, we have access to talk with God at any time about anything. This is something to definitely be thankful . He has saved us from eternal separation from Him, and He continues to mold us into the image of His Son. It may not always be easy, but God never promised easy. He promises to love us unconditionally amd never leave or forsake us. Someday we will live forever with Him in heaven. Now that is something to be thankful for...hallelujah!!
Thirty-five years ago, I took my soon to be fiancee to see a scary movie hoping that her fear would cause her to snuggle close to me. I am not ashamed to admit that I was just a scared as her with my introduction to Freddy Kruger. There are many people who enjoy being scared. I am not one of them. That was the last scary movie I've gone to since. However, when we are not seeking out Jesus, fear can paralyze us at times. There is a constant battle between fear and faith. Do we take God at His word and believe when we pray? Or are we just hoping that God will come through? Do we go boldly before His throne of grace or is prayer the last thing we think to do? There should be no fear when it comes to talking with God. He is patiently waiting to hear from us. He loves us and wants to show Himself in a mighty way. So lets cast all our fears away and go to the One who loves us so.
God's love for us is perfect because He is perfect and without sin "perfect love casts out fear... 1 John 4:18.. His love for us is also unconditional. When we spend intentional time in prayer talking with God our minds are not only on ourselves, but focused on a God who loves us. When we remember who we are talking to and who we are in Christ, fear and anxiety should subside. Those anxious feelings are replaced with courage, fortified faith, and God's omnipotent strength as we seek to live for Him. So let's not live in fear, but live boldly for Christ and bring honor and glory to HIm.
In a world overflowing with darkness, prayer is the shining light that gives us hope. Despite the divisiveness, destruction from evildoers, and disappointing leadership at several levels, prayer allows us to live with a peaceful heart. Prayer reminds us who we serve as Christians. We can live in peace knowing that God is always in control. He is never surprised by what is taking place in our lives and the world around us. It is easy at times to take our eyes off Christ and focus on the circumstances around us. However, when our eyes are on Christ Jesus. He becomes a beacon of hope shining brightly. A light so bright that our hearts are comforted and our bodies refreshed from the warmth of His unconditional love. So let's spend quality time with the Light who is Jesus. Talk with Him consistently and with passionate perseverance. Then we can live as reflections of Christ-shining brightly to glorify Him.
The temperature on the back of my neck begins to warm to a slow burn. I begin to pace anxiously while continually checking my watch. My anxiety grows. These are of few of the tangible things that occur when my patience begins to evaporate. However, several years ago, I realized that these feelings were not beneficial to my health. I’m a work in progress in learning to wait and trust God’s timing. Waiting on God can be difficult at times. It is something I struggle with myself. However, I am a work in progress. I feel that my "Patience Muscle" is getting stronger every day. I thank God for refining me into the man that He desires. Waiting on God is a reflection of our trust in Him. His timing is perfect. Trust Him.
Why is prayer sometimes our last resort instead of the first thing that comes to mind? So many times we attempt things in our own strength or do what we feel is best. We then wonder why we struggle. We must ask what is God's will.? Have I sought God's wisdom and direction before moving forward? Sometimes we do what we want and then ask God to bless us. We need to thank Him for His patience when we take advantage of His grace and mercy. As Moses and the Israelites approached the Red sea while being chased by Pharaoh and the Egyptians, they feared for their lives. Look at what God said to Moses. Fear not. Stand firm, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will work for you today. Exodus 14:13 The same God who parted the Red sea is the same God who will save you today. Whatever the trial, adversity, or unexpected season of change, God wants to show Himself to you. Are you willing to let go and let Him work in your life? Start living a life where you seek Him first in everything.Rest in His comfort and strength Ask Him for wisdom. He will give it freely without judging. You too can have a "Red sea " moment in your life. So,let go and Let God!
God desires to have an intimate relationship with us. For that relationship to grow we have to be willing to listen to Him. Prayer is so much more than rattling of a list of requests like He is a spiritual Santa Claus. Prayer is about being willing to listen to the things God desires to share with each of us. God has a unique plan and purpose for every one of His children. For us to begin to understand that purpose, we must seek His wisdom. We can ask for wisdom in prayer, but we can also gain understanding through His word, the Bible. Strong relationships take time to develop. There must be a commitment from both parties to make the bond grow stronger. I know that God is ready and willing to commune with you. Are you. Are you preparing your heart to listen?
Change can be exciting and exhilarating at times, but change can also be scary at times. There is the fear of the unknown, fear of new surroundings, people, and places. Despite our fears, God promises us in Hebrews 13:5 that He will NEVER leave us or desert us. The Creator of heaven and earth. The Master of the universe is concerned about our welfare. He wants us to trust Him with all our hearts and live courageously. If you are unsure about a decision, ask God for wisdom. He will gladly give you direction resulting in peace that only He can provide. When God inspired me to write a book, I questioned things in the beginning. Now as I approach publishing my next inspirational Christian book, there is nothing I enjoy more than writing and talking about God. That does not mean things have been easy. There have been several hiccups and speed bumps that attempt to throw me of track. However, I believe I am doing exactly what God desires. I pray He is glorified in everything I write and share on my podcast.. So, I encourage you to step out in faith, and see God at work in your life!
"In this world you will have tribulation," is a quote from Jesus found in the gospel of John 16:33. Also, the apostle Paul in a letter to his young protege,Timothy warns him that all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution..-2 Timothy 3:12 So, I ask again. Are we prepared to persevere in our prayers? Daily, weekly, monthly, yearly despite the circumstances? God desires to hear your cries, but also is blessed by your praises to Him. Thank Him for the storms He has brought you through and make a habit to persevere in your prayers.
Peace. It is something that we all desire, but is hard to come by at times. Everyone is pointing fingers wanting to blame someone other than themselves. Now more than ever we as Christians need to pray for our nation and the leadership at every level. What ever happened to "One nation under God?" It sounds so hollow when you look at the landscape of our country and direction it's heading. God created every person walking alive in America. It is because of Him we live and breath today. So let's humble ourselves and pray. Thank God for all He has done.. Ask Him to give wisdom to those in leadership of our great nation. Let's look outside of the four walls that surround us and pray for our country like never before. In Jesus's name I pray, Amen.
Habitual and unconfessed sin interferes with our communication with God. Although He desperately wants to hear and listen to our prayers, sin will prevent holy God from hearing our prayers. That is why we must confess our sin daily and repent from the sins that affect our intimacy with Almighty God. God is holy. He cannot tolerate sin. When we go to God in prayer, we need to be sure that our heart is free from sin. We have to guard against any bitterness or resentments that may exist in our heart. Approach God's throne of grace with humility,a repentant heart, and seeking His will- we can have confidence that He hears our prayers.
I love my father tremendously. His body and his mind are breaking down as he battles through Alzheimer's. However, through everything his love for me has become evident. He has lived a godly life that I hope to emulate the rest of my years. For example. My father always put others before himself. He has been willing to sacrifice for the betterment of people around him. Humility. My father never tooted his own horn. He always gave God the glory by the way he lives. Kindness. My dad has a heart as big as Texas. He advised me, disciplined, supported, and prayed for me because of his unconditional love for me I thank God for blessing me with such an incredible earthly father. I also am thankful to Him for sending His only Son,Jesus, to die for my sins so that I might have the opportunity to accept Him as my Savior. Now the Holy Spirit lives within me. He comforts, convicts, guides, encourages me in my desire to live for Christ. I have no doubt that my Heavenly Father wants the best for me. He states that in His word.(Romans 8:28) Thank you God for Your unconditional love. I am blessed to have two Fathers who love me so.
During my last job interview, I was asked these two questions before the interview was over. What is your greatest strength and what is your biggest weakness? My response was simple. I said that is easy. They are the same. The answer to both questions was my emotions. My emotions are what drive me I got the job and was extremely successful for several years leading up to my stroke, However,as I seek to live for Christ, I have learned that I can no longer be ruled by my emotions. My faith in Jesus Christ has to be my compass in everything-not my feelings It is my goal to live every day with Jesus Christ as the object of my faith. Trusting Him in every situation and circumstance despite my feelings Doing so gives my prayers power. My mind is at peace more often than not, and my relationship with God grows stronger... And that my friend is the best way to lead a fruitful, God-glorifying, powerful life.
God loves it when we pray for someone else in addition to ourselves. There is power in the selfless act of intercessory prayer. Praying for other people takes our minds off ourselves. The best part is when we see an answer to those types of prayers. Seeing evidence of His transforming power encourages us as Christians to continue communing with our heavenly Father. Our faith grows stronger and we pray more consistently after seeing God at work in the lives of others. In Ephesians, God encourages us to especially pray for other Christians. Each of us are a unique and essential part of God's family. However, we should always pray for the lost, hurting, and the hopeless. May they come to know Jesus as Lord and Savior of their lives.
Sometimes it is easy to feel like God is nowhere to be found when we pray. We wonder is there a bad connection and ask ourselves where is God? The good news is that God is always near. Watching over us and loving us despite what we may be feeling..God stated in His word how important we are to Him. So we cannot get discouraged despite our circumstances. God is always work putting things in place for the best possible outcome. We have to be patient and trust Him. He wants what is best for us. So let's persevere in our prayers and keep asking, seeking, and knocking until His will is accomplished. Be encouraged and don't give up on talking with God.
Are you feeling alone? Are you wondering if God hears your prayers during times of difficulty? He is the Great Shepherd. God is always near even when we are feeling alone at times. It is through prayer that not only can we seek comfort, but we can find peace in talking with Him.He loves us unconditionally. God wants to hear from us-not only in times of need, but because we love talking with Him. Communing with God helps to foster our relationship with Him, and prevents us from feeling He is not near. Remember, God is always closer than we think. He is watching over us and wants to shower us with His love.
My mother knelt down next to me when I was five years old. I asked Jesus to come into my heart. I'm not sure I understood everything at the time, but I knew I had no desire to die and go to hell. As I grew older, my mother continued to pray for me in the early morning hours before starting her day. The trips to the doctor and hospital emergencies.-mom was constantly praying . My teenage years were beyond trying for her. But yet she persevered in asking God to draw me closer to Him.. As an adult I did my best to live for myself and ignore the God who loved me. Mom continued to pray fervently. never giving up hope A massive stroke shattered me to the core, My mother was right there by my side. She prayed for me, encouraged me, and helped to guide back to my Savior. It is now my desire to live for Jesus Christ, the Savior who died for my sins. Now God has blessed with the platform to write about Him. I have so much to be thankful for when it comes to my Mother, but I'm most thankful of all for her prayers.
This weekend we recognize the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He was crucified and rose from the grave three days later and now sits at the right hand of Almighty God. After Christ died on the cross, the veil in the temple was ripped in two from top to bottom. Signifying we now have access to God via prayer. Our sins have been covered by the blood of the cross. Jesus was the perfect sacrifice for all mankind. However, we must willingly accept His free gift of salvation to have a relationship with Him. Once we have done that we can converse with God and know that He hears our prayers when we seek His will for our lives. We have hope because He lives. Christ is Risen indeed!
It is imperative for us to go to God in prayer with a heart of repentance. He knows that we are not perfect and recognizes the humanness of our bodies where our hearts reside. However, we must confess, repent and turn away from habitual, unconfessed sin to ensure there is nothing hindering God from hearing our prayers. He loves us unconditionally. God sees the big picture of our lives and He knows and wants what is best. We may not understand His instructions or directives, but we have to trust in His love.
I had no idea how God would use my story and my testimony to encourage, inspire, and draw readers to Christ. The emails, and messages I receive from them are both encouraging and inspiring. It is the affirmation that I am doing God's will in writing these books. It's my prayer that going forward that my books will affect people's lives and give them hope, comfort, and joy as they read. Joy that only God can provide despite the circumstance you find yourself. So thank you to my readers, followers, and supporters. You mean the world to me. I thank God for your support and your help. I am so thankful that He has brought some many alongside to walk with me on my writing journey. May God be glorified in everything in everything I publish going forward.
Are you wondering if God hears your prayers? Are you praying that His will be done or do you want Him to bless what you want? God promises in 1 John 5:14 that if we ask anything in His will, He hears us. That is a promise from a God who cannot lie. (Titus 1:2) I want God's will to be done in my circumstances because He wants want is best for me. It is up to us to choose, do we want something good or do we desire God's best? If we desire God's will for our lives, Let's make it our practice to pray in this manner. If you already are, even better. Continue to persevere in prayer and remember God causes all things to work together for good. (Romans 8:28) Keep your heart in alignment with His will and watch God work in your life!
Plans. Resolutions. Goals. Change. These are just a few of the words that we see or hear at the beginning of every year. However, to accomplish anything of substance in the New Year we must persevere in every circumstance. Anything worthwhile usually does not come with ease. I have found the same is true in regards to prayer. We must persevere in our prayers- even when we feel God is not listening. We have to examine our hearts and be sure are prayers are motivated for the right reasons. God may be moving things around that are necessary for our prayers to be answered. Are we praying that God's will be done when we go to Him in prayer? As we turn the corner and embark on a New year, let's make it our priority to have purposeful, persistent prayer as we persevere to do God's will in 2019.
As another year begins to come to a end, are you excited for what lies ahead in the New Year? Are you looking back with regrets regarding goals you'd hope to achieve? Or maybe you are sad to see such an successful year coming to a close? Regardless how we are feeling at this moment, let's make a commitment to not only live by the rollercoaster of our feelings, but to walk this path in the certainty of faith in Jesus Christ.. God has not brought us this far to try and figure things out on our own. He wants us to converse with Him and seek to do His will . If we do that, God hears our prayers, and will be glorified by how we live our life to bring Him glory. Ask God what His will is for you this year. He is ready and waiting to guide your path.
As we approach the Christmas holiday, I make it a point to remember why Christ was born as a baby. His desire was to save our souls and make it possible to have fellowship with Him. If we have accepted Christ as our Lord and Savior, we can have an intimate relationship with Almighty God. Intimacy is fostered via purposeful and persistent prayer.. It is through salvation in Christ that we have twenty-four access to our Father in Heaven. If we want any relationship to grow strong, communication is key. Intentional, heartfelt and sincere conversing with God. Not only when we need something, but because we love Him. We want prayer to change our circumstances, but God uses prayer to change our hearts as we draw nearer and nearer to Him.
Who or what is the object of faith in your life? For many years, I put my trust in my finances, my talents, and abilities. I ignored the fact that God is the one who blessed me with the skills to have the numerous successes in my career. After my stroke in 2010 , I began to realize I can talk with God about anything. There does not have to be a crisis to converse with my Heavenly Father. He desires to have an intimate relationship with me. He wants to hear from us when we are joyful, when we feel fearful, and even when we're sad. When our communication becomes more frequent, our love for Him deepens. I have experienced God's power in my life, and my faith in Him grows stronger. I remember everything He's done and I believe that I can accomplish His will for my life. I'm living with a faith that moves mountains and you can too. Are you willing to trust Him with your whole heart?
Do you feel abandoned by God at times? Are you wondering if He hears your prayers? Do you feel hurt or angry at God? Feeling confused? Let me ask you this, are you praying His will be done? Are you trusting in His plan knowing His timing is PERFECT. God is never caught by surprise. Everything that takes place paces through the Master's hands. Ask God to show you His will and He will Hear your prayers. He WILL answer you. He wants to be near you. God loves you. Tell Him how much you love Him.
For many years I put my faith in everything but God. My talents, my athletic ability, my intelligence money, and my work ethic What I failed to realize that it was God who had blessed me with every single one of those gifts, talents, and attributes. He created me and formed me in my mother's womb. God waited patiently for me to surrender my heart to Him. He desires to use my gifts for His glory. I thank Him every morning for His grace and patience. It's my prayer that people are drawn nearer to Christ and hearts are transformed by His divine power. If you are wanting to experience God's transforming power in your life or the lives of those you love, go before His throne of grace. Give your heart to the One who loves you. He offers you unconditional love, joy and a peace that only he can provide. Surrender your heart to Him.

Williams answers a lot of the questions that many have about what prayer actually is, if it works, and why it may seem like God is not listening — when in fact He really is. Jack Magnus, Readers’ Favorite "Horace has a way of pushing you into a deeper prayer life. In his book, “Unleash the Power of Prayer in Your Life” If you’re ready to break strongholds, grow closer to God, learn more about the power of prayer and how to hear from our Heavenly Father then you need to read this book". -Elaine Mingus, Radical Christian Woman "What a great resource! Unleash the Power of Prayer in Your Life is a wonderful book from Horace Williams. Packed with scriptural truth, instruction, and illustrations, this book is a great resource for believers." -Melanie Redd, Ministry of Hope
For decades my parents prayed and hoped that I would follow them into Christian ministry. However, I resisted with every fiber of my being. I believed that being in service to Christ meant giving up all of my freedom. I was afraid that if I committed my life to Christ fully, I would end up in a jungle somewhere fearing for my life. It wasn't until I was lying in that hospital room that God confirmed to me that He wanted my heart and to trust Him. All the monies in the world could not prevent what happened to me or heal my body. That being said, I want to live for Christ now. It's my prayer that my life is an honor to Him. I want to share my testimony of faith in my Savior, Jesus Christ and draw others closer to God.
Years and years my parents continued in pray for me. It was their hope for as long as I could remember that my heart would not only turn towards Jesus completely, but that I would live to serve Him. They hurt deeply watching me experience a stroke over eight years years ago, However, the joy in my mother's eyes as she began to see my heart for God and my desire to be salt and light drawing people closer to Him is priceless. It is my prayer that my Savior will continue to use my life to glorify Him.. I share this today to remind you to never give up praying for that loved one who needs Christ Jesus in their lives. There is divine power in prayer-a power that transforms and changes lives for the better. Be encouraged friend, and KEEP ON PRAYING...
I never really took talking with God serious. It wasn't until I was flat on my back in a hospital bed lying there helpless as a newborn baby. I've learned that God is available to talk with us at any time-not just in times of need. How would you feel if the only time you heard from loved ones is when they needed or wanted something? Prayer helps you in fostering your relationship with God. It is a way for you to begin understand Him when He speaks to you via His Word. Spending time is the best investment of your time in any day. Talk with God. He is waiting to hear from you.
Exquisite Faith is something that God develops in us over time. As He brings us through trials and tests- our faith grows stronger each day We no longer are hoping He hears our prayers . We can have unwavering confidence that He hears our prayers when we seek His will. God wants to use us for His glory. Everything that takes place in our lives is all part of His plan and purpose. So when we go to God in prayer, we must go boldly before His throne of grace believing He will hear our prayers. Seek God daily and let Him transform your life!
Prayer is not only for preachers and pastors. Prayer is for everyone who has accepted Christ as their Savior. Are you talking with Him daily? Did you thank Him for waking you this morning. I thank God for my mother every day. For all the mothers out there who are praying for their children-don't stop praying and NEVER GIVE UP! My mother continued in prayer for me for years. She prayed that I would have a desire to live for Christ so that He was glorified. Almost 2 years after my stroke in 2010, I realized I needed to recommit my life to Christ and live for Him. I have even written a book on the power of prayer. It was God who prompted me to write this book to encourage hearts, and remind Christians to stay on their knees and talk with Him. So, mothers keep on praying God's will for your children, trust His divine wisdom, and watch Him go to work. Have a blessed Mothers Day weekend! May God encourage your heart and shower you with the strength to continue in prayer for those you love.
This is part of the subtitle for the book I am currently working on titled, The Furnace of Affliction. Keep an eye out for the cover reveal. People look at me crazy when I tell them my stroke was the best thing that ever happened to me apart from my salvation in Christ. God used the debilitating stroke to develop my faith in Him. Prior to that my focus was on making an income of six-figures and winning awards. I was putting my faith in money rather than God. I still battle with chronic nerve pain as a result of the stroke. However, my pain is a constant reminder of my humanness. It also reminds me that I have a Savior who loves me and wants to keep me on the path HE has for me . I can talk with Him at any time. He reveals Himself to me as I spend time in His Word. My relationship with Christ has never been stronger or more intimate. That does not mean everything is easy, by no means is that the case . Knowing that God is in control, gives me comfort in the midst of my pain.
SIN. Unconfessed and habitual sin prevents God from hearing the prayers of those who know Christ. As a Christian, you have a personal relationship God. However, God is holy and cannot tolerate sin. Yes, your sins have been forgiven and are covered by the blood from the cross. That being said, when you live in habitual and unconfessed sin, God cannot hear your prayers. Go to God with a repentant heart-seeking His will, and He WILL hear your prayers. "Behold, the Lord’s hand is not so short That it cannot save; Nor is His ear so dull That it cannot hear. 2 But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, And your sins have hidden His ]face from you so that He does not hear." (Isaiah 59:1-2)
As Palm Sunday is recognized this weekend, remember all that Jesus has done for you. Jesus rode triumphantly into Jerusalem on the back of a donkey that day. This was in preparation of the Passover celebration, and preceded the Lord's Supper that Jesus shared with his disciples. He was betrayed by Judas in the Garden of Gethsemane.. He was crucified on a cross, and 3 days later He rose again, and is now seated at the right hand of Almighty God. Now, because of His sacrifice, we have access to our Heavenly Father via prayer. Make it a priority to spend time with your Savior. Seek His forgiveness, and thank Him for all He has done and continues to do in your life.
With the tragedies that seem to take place on an almost daily basis, prayer gives us hope. We may never understand the things that take place in our lives or the ones we care about. However, we must remember that God is in control and He loves us unconditionally . He wants us to be dependent on and put our complete trust in Him. God never promised things would be easy, but we should never doubt His love for us. Remember the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross. He is watching over us waiting for us to come and talk with Him. Go to God today and share what's on your heart. Seek Him and you will find. Be encouraged friend and God bless you.
