Two brothers, one vanishes and the other stirs up a romance and a hornet's nest looking for him Matt and Chuck Veal of West Creek County, Georgia are brothers who own a timber sawmill. Chuck, the younger, left the state in search of a career outside trees in the newspaper business, leaving his brother to run things for them. The story gets into high gear when Matt vanishes and Chuck has to return to Georgia and figure out what happened, who "done it" and why. The sub plot and paranormal touch comes in the name of Gail, an employee of the same paper where Chuck works. She has a strange vision triggered when touching an old coin but doesn't connect all the dots until hearing about Chuck's missing brother and more in depth details of the Veal family history. Matt's friends, after Chuck arrives back home, join with him and together they stir up a hornet's nest of trouble and closets full of family skeletons. The fast paced action keeps the reader breathless until the last page of the book.
